i found a Teac A-3440

oh..i see..the two are stacked..
i guess both are broken...i don't see a switch lever thing on the right side of either.

Yes, the red trigger lever on the side of the switch.
Buy two switches and a drive-belt.
When they arrive I help you with instructions, don't forget the solder-iron OK:)
 
i got the belt and put it on...the motor is running and the flywheel is rolling but when i engage the pinch rollor to simulate a tape being on there the reverse, ff, record, stop button aren't doing anything noticable. is this right?
 
nevermind...got both switches engaged and now it works!

just need some advice on soldering.
i've got some Solder-It silver bearing paste? will this work ok? it's supposed to work with a lighter but i guess i need an iron to be working inside the case.

OK...everythings put together now and working.

i don't know if it's a problem with the head or a magnetic thing but the 4th track is full of mess...reverb, clicking and hiss. the other tracks are great.
am i in trouble or is it an easy fix?
 
Is it making noise on both sync and play function on output ?
Or do you just test with a mic or using the input source function ?
 
sounds ok when i'm checking levels on the source...but on playback in sync and play setting it's crickets and reverb.
 
Could be the playback board has poor contact at the motherboard connection.
Did you try head-phone jack for listening or the RCA output ?
Same result on channel 4 with hiss and crackle ?
All other channels are clean and bright ?:)
 
i didn't notice anything different with the meter.
when i'm recording in sync the meters aren't really giving a reading. i guess that's how it's supposed to be?

i'll go mess around with the buttons.
 
no change after messing with the switch.

i noticed that i barely hear anything on 4 in play mode.
in sync mode is where it's all reverb and overblown hiss. very loud.
 
That's good, did you clean all heads properly ?
If so, I think the earlier post with poor contact between channel 4 board and motherboard need attention.
Tight to reach but can be done:)
