An attempt at drawing Getuhgrip's guitar and a kinder gentler surf revision.

I'm flattered! I think with smaller PUs, and a slight relief at the lower horn's contour line...I'd build one myself if I knew how! :D

The headstock I have some ideas for. Ton's of ideas in for I'll post later...

The headstock I drew lines up the strings straight across the nut, although i didn't take the time to compensate for string gauge. The design I was using was entirely inappropriate for the guitar style. I just neede to have something that didn't clash. I look forward to seeing what you have in mind.

FWIW that lower horn looks like it would get in my way if I was playing up there. I would probably try to open it up if it was my design.

I had an existing drawing of a neck through design that I cannibalized when This thread got started. I've just been using it until the pickup discussion starts.

For some strange reason it made me think of the Ovation Breadwinner, not that it looks anything like it. That was a cool design and a surprisingly good guitar.

yeah .... that was the first thing I thought of.

I had a Breadwinner ....... don't remember liking it much but what did I know back then?

Okay, guess I don't feel so flattered anymore, Fuckers! :D

I rather thought it looked kinda like a Parker/Rickenbacker body with a Fernades head.

If you go similar to yours then you would have to do a 4 x2 split. No room for 6 in a line.

I'm getting Parker fly for some reason..

I can see that now that you mention it.
Actually it looks more like that than a Breadwinner to tell the truth.

And what I didn't like about the Breadwinner wasn't the design ..... that's what attracted me to it in the first place. But as I remember it, it had clean clean clean p'ups. They just didn't sing with a nice sustainy distorted sound and I seem to remember having trouble getting a distorted sound out of it at all.
So I liked the looks but the sound was 'meh'.

Hey Muttley ..... I've always had a fond spot for Mosrites ..... and firebirds too for that matter but especially Mosrites.
What do you think of the reverse camber thing?
Milnoques idea might look cool reversed ........ but also maybe a Mosrite clone? .. just as a starting point ....... it'd have to be a variation of course but something in that realm might make a cool surf git.

I'm not fond of the look. I think it would sit better on a bass where you have longer balance and them bassist tend to be more rotund in any case. Not against it if thats the way people want to take it though...

You've seen how much they eat when the host says "help yourself to the buffet" :o

I used to gig with a bass player who used to get a weeks worth of food on a side plate. He played like Duck Dunn though so we forgave him...

I mean't to say three on a side. If you look at the drawing you'll see how I had it laid out

Thats my point. I'm guessing because it aint scaled up but my ageing eyes and experience tell me you would need a 4 x 2 split on that shape. The tuner casings on most normal size tuners need a bit of clearance to fit. The D and G are likely to be a problem on that. Need to full scale it to find out. I have plans for most off the shelf tuners though so we do that later when we get to headstocks.
