I bought an HP a1310n. It has been working fine for recording so far. I have two questions... first one is... how do I "tweak" it for audio engineering. And another is how do I make it quieter?
The first tweak would be to disable those bloody annoying sounds. That's about the onyl 'tweak' I've done to mine, and mine was just a normal PC bought off the internet.
As for making your PC quieter, turn the volume down?
Actually, I bought one of those acoustic kits (acousticpac) a while ago. It seems to have done virtually nothing, so maybe a waste of time.
Personally I'm thinking of moving my PC to another room and having extension cables to avoid noise.

I would build a box for it with one open side so you can access your CD . Carpet the interior of the box, place the tower in the box. You need to make the box a couple inches bigger than the tower so it doesn't overheat. You would be surprised how quite it will get.
