Interesting article.... And I agree 10,000% about the "Don't take bad advice" and "the harder you work the better your luck".

I wouldn't call it luck though - I'd call it success.

However, I do believe he had an advantage with the fact that he was doing something community related and borderline charitable. Sure he was getting paid, but look at his venues... schools (and others, but let's looks at schools) - how many of those are there in a town? He has far more venues available than say a metal, or blues band.

Now I'm not saying the word "can't" here, I'm merely pointing out that his approach and his product work well together. I'd also like to point out a response I made earlier on another another post.

I made a pretty strong case there about doing charitable work in the community by puting on a concert and having other musicians involved.

Be seen and you will be noticed. Play in your garage/basement and you will be invisible.
