I had upwards of $15000 at one point. Have fallen out of it in the last year or so, and have sold much of it off. Anyone wanna buy a set of Roland V-sessions? :)

8350 in gear I can remember... and of course, that's just the recording equipment - we haven't even gotten into the music gear...

With that included? Hmm...

Another 6400.

Then there's the drums and percussion, but that was assembled over the years from gifts while in high school (its an old set nowadays, but sounds decent enough for recordings and messin around :))

Drumset around 3k...

All in all, music has cost me 15,000 dollars. sweet crackers. It really does hurt when you add it up. Granted, I bought the powerBook for school use a few years back, but that's lumped in with the recording gear price since that's all I use it for nowadays.

$5000 to $10,000 dollars. I'm not planning on spending much more. Ok, that's just a sad excuse because I don't have money to spend right now.

i gotta change my answer ($1000-$3000) from when i originally voted. sitting here right now and doing a rough estimate, it looks like i have somewhere around $9,300 invested in the studio including instruments, software, hardware, materials, acoustics, and what not...i gotta find a way to make some money off of this shit!

All included minus the rooms I've for certain broke the 10k mark now.
I agree with Zed32. Got to make some money off it. Looking for a new house big enough to have a reasonable live room. Then I can make money and buy more gear :D

man, i'm a total gearslut now, and it's all because of this damn website!

i was running on the same ~$1000 worth of gear for like 5 years until i found this site, now look at how far my studio budget has inflated!

I just got notification and yeah, mine answer is atleast another bracket up, maybe two.

our band has put in about 5 or 6 thousand so far. Just a few more things just a few more things, and then I promise I wont need anything else!

I had about 10,000, but noticed I was spending more time learning how to use gear, and shopping for gear than I was recording. I stripped down the the basics (less than $2000 worth), and am doing better recording than I was more.

Wow!!! This stuff adds up fast. I did not realise that you could spend that much money that quickly.

I remember posting in here when I first registered years ago and it was like £8000 ....i probably spent that last year,, I don't care to count it up any more. It's a healthy hobby still :D

When its all done, it will be less than 700 dollars.

What do you guys spend 10s of thousands of dollars on? Instrumental equipment? All I'm doing is rapping/ vocals.

shit...

I just added up my stuff and I"m higher than I thought

I'm sitting at about 5000$ (modest by most of you but still I guess I've been building over the last 2 years.)

Once I apply for some grants/loans for my studio I plan on dropping alot more.. but all in good time.
