shit...

I just added up my stuff and I"m higher than I thought

I'm sitting at about 5000$ (modest by most of you but still I guess I've been building over the last 2 years.)

Once I apply for some grants/loans for my studio I plan on dropping alot more.. but all in good time.

I want a grant!!! Are you listening grant fairy??????

F.S

it's not impossible to get a business grant.. at least i hope it's not..

I guess i'll find out shortly.

I have spent a modest amount I think (just over $1,000) and it wasn't that hard to do.

Let's see $300 for one mixer (ebay), plus $150 for the other (Guitar World), $250 (Add $40 in shipping) for the monitors, Tape Deck $10, Two mics $150, Cables $100(?), Software $50, Soundcard $60 (?), Joe Meek Three Q (Promotion) $150 (I think it was 150 or 100).

Being able to record my own stuff (priceless).

ha ha!...excellent stuff Dracon!!! :)

Man... I'm not sure exactly... Let's see....
2k-computer
250-mackie dfx 12
500- audix mics - 2 D2s, D4, D6 and i5
100- MXL 990 and 991 (pieces of crap)
100-200- misc stands, cables and adaptors...
70- ATH M40fs headphones
60 or 70(can't remember)-ATH M30 headphones.. (cat chewed em up)

I'm soon to get an outboard for recording and finally seperating channels for the drums .. I'm lookin at the firepod or the 8 pre and I've also gotta get some monitors!!! It's a real pain to have to keep tweaking that mix and burning and taking it to a whole bunch of different stereos and listening... and then doing it over and over again! but uh... yeah. for the amount that I've invested in my studio, I'm damn proud of the quality I've been able to get. Those mics are incredible.

digi 001-300
mac g4 dual core-500
mixer-200
monitors-600
mics-230
appr total=1830 .....

and i only work 12 hours a week....took me two years i think..

plus all the little crap like cables and stuff
this is just my studio...im not including instruments

I'm closer 30k-40k, but mainly due to wrong purchases and reshuffling gear. I think if i was to do it all again i'd be between 20k-25kfor my current prosumer setup.

Outboard gear/desk's/cabling/mics/software and the like is around 10k. Just guitars, bass's, keyboards and computers would be about 15k, which I know is nothing compared to a lot of people.

I'm guessing I've spent around 2000 on mics alone, and I only have a couple of 'good' ones. Some stuff I bought new, some used, but to replace everything I would probably be looking at between 5000-10000. And I still want more! I need to upgrade my interface for sure!! etc.....

As of tax time this year I was up around 42,000 for the gear. I added about 5700 in the last nine months. My space takes up 650 sq ft of my house and though it is not perfect, I get a controlled and good sound for live instruments. The instruments themselves bring it up another 7k or so. Of that 5700, 1700 was on a special mic. The live gear puts it up another 4k.

If I were to add it all up over the career it would scare me. Of course there are things like vintage instruments that at the time had a value no where close to todays market. If I still had em, the 4 'L' series Strats would bring more than all the gear I have right now.

Well I'm up to about 6 grand now

converter 2k
mics $1400
monitors 1k
sound treatment $800
misc other crap 1k

I'm not counting computers or instruments, my sound card can be more or less rolled into "misc other crap"

Man how do you spend so much money!? I have only 2,000 worth of equipment and my recordings have sounded pretty good IMO.
