Just thought it should be posted again...

I showed it to him unstrung last night at church and he said, "Wow."

Nice one. I often find it helps if you make a note to call them a week or so down the line to check everything is still OK. I suppose you see this guy every week so no need for that. It does help though because little niggles can be dealt with promptly and pro actively that way.

Hope you get some more work out of it.

Yeh after a few years it will wear in. The rule of thumb with those is that the more pressure the coarser the cut, light pressure gives you a fine cut. If you use it to sharpen other tools (no harm in doing so they are pretty indistructable) it will become soother and finer after a while. Avoid using it on aluminum. Use water as a carrrier, never oil.

Would you act the same way in real life - without the cloak of internet anonymity? If so you would find your customers dissapearing rather rapidly.

Seems to work pretty well for Matt Umanov out in NYC. I once heard him at a panel at an A.S.I.A. convention say, "fuck the customer, the customer is always wrong." That's pretty much his reputation as well, and he is always busy as hell. If your good, your good.

But no, I'm the model of restraint when talking to idiots in real life. That is why I remain anonymous on this forum (though not on any other). It is a stress relief valve. I've been very open and honest about this for a long time. If you haven't noticed that in the past, too bad. But when someone attacks me for being helpful, I have a problem with that. Even more, when someone says something as monumentally stupid as "don't listen to people who know more than you," I'm not about to let that stand.

Oh, and APL, it's not that I won't suffer those who disagree with me. What I don't suffer is people giving advice as though they are experts when in fact they have no idea what they are talking about.

That annoys me, too.
