there is only one problem with this thread
3 or 4 posts about how the guitar was made and how to go about it scattered in a 4 page thread !!
anybody with a low attention span would never get to the end of it
and come on light spill the beans what else should he have done or could have done better so the rest of us that toy with making our own guitar would not be so intimidated at the task in hand

This is getting really funny.
I'm now getting neg rep for standing up for light and telling it like it is. Despite giving metalhead an honest and considered response to his work.

I think that your, and light's, arrogance is uncalled for.
There are thousands of great luthiers in the world.
Just becuase two of you hang out here and dish out useful advice from time to time, doesn't give you the right to be rude, arrogant and treat people badly.
You usually find that it's people who don't have a clue, who are arrogant and blow their own trumpets - sneering at others who have less knowledge of their field.
So really, as somebody who does have good knowledge of your field, you are doing yourself a disservice by acting this way.
Would you act the same way in real life - without the cloak of internet anonymity? If so you would find your customers dissapearing rather rapidly.
Dispense your wisdom with respect and don't use it to belittle people.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't have the time or the patience to dance round sensitive ego's and delicate little flowers on sites like this. That includes your judgmental criticisms. If you took the trouble to read I only jump on people who either a, jump on me or b, start spouting stuff that I KNOW is bull of the highest order.
The work I have and I have lots of it, about three years wait now and repairs for the next three - six months on back order. I have this not because I am rude or because I am courteous but because I m good at what I do. In real life people don't jump in my face while in my workshop and start telling me I don't know what I'm talikng about, if they did I'd be a lot ruder than I've ever been round here. That however is real life fella! In real life people are inclined to accept that I know my stuff and not start a row about the slightest thing, much as you have done.
Take the trouble to read this thread and see who has actually been defending who? Who has actually passed on some considered comments to the OP, and who has maintained a lighthearted approach to most here. I think you'll find thats me. If you want me to show you rude I'd be happy too just say so.
If you want me to stop "dish(ing) out useful advice from time to time" round here I'll do that as well just say so. But if you want to tell me how to behave you can stick it in you birthday pocket as far as I'm concerned.

You're obviously quite angry about something and attempting to hide it behind a veneer of 'coolness'. In reality you appear to be spoiling for a fight. What do you have to prove?
I find it quite amusing that you in-turn "neg-repped" me for a post encouraging people to use local luthier's.
You obviously wanted just to give some "neg rep" back, and didn't read, or care about, the content of the post.
Obviously you do care rather a lot about the little 'virtual reputation' green lights, otherwise you wouldn't have even bothered to respond, writing several paragraphs and taking pains to tell us exactly how much you don't care about it twice.
I know you're far too cool to care what people think about you (especially strangers online), but bear in mind that by acting as you do, you invite criticism.
Ironically, your "I don't care about sensitive flowers" attitude is what I find rather amusing, as it seems to me that you are the most "sensitive flower" of all...
