Nice acoustic guitar. I love those things, so any song with acoustic guitar works very well with me. The vocals are decent. You're no Pavarotti, but I guess nobody is. They work with the song and that's all that matters. Wait, I didn't mean to sound harsh :D It's just that the vocals are sung "too quiet". I don't mean the actual volume levels, but you just sound like you're out of breath half of the time, you know. I dunno, I'm no expert, though. Maybe it was meant that way. The mixing is good. The song is ok by me.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!

I KNOW THIS ONE!!!!!!!

background vocals!

:p

oh and WATYF, in case you saw my comments about (a BOOOOOOT!) disliking Dave Matthews in the cave -- don't sweat it. You didn't go falsetto once :p ;)

Chad

PS: And yeah -- when he's not doing that, he can sing pretty well. (HE sounds like YOU) ;)

you have been neglecting your preamp thread! we have been keeping it going for you...
 what's this?!!??!

First I'm just "trying to get attention" and now I'm "neglecting my thread"... man.. there's no winning with you, is there...?? :p if I post, I'm "pining for attention" and if I don't I'm "neglecting"... I think I'll just stick to recording... :p

I did try to mess with the Delta's input levels.. I turned it up all the way so the levels were coming in pretty high... but they still sat much lower than the levels for the behringer... I dunno... I did get three of em... (but I'm sellin' the others,.. and maybe even this one) If I can't get a sound that's better than my behringer, then I'm gonna sell em all and go get a DMP3. (like I prolly should have in the first place.. ;) )

Yeah.. I explained this in another thread a while back.. I have "athsma"... (or some such nonsense..) basically what I really have is extremely weak lungs cause I never do anything but sit at a computer all day... :p I have zero lung capacity and can't hold a note for more than a few seconds usually... So my breathing technique pretty much sucks beans... I honestly consider that as being my worst attribute when it comes to singing.. my tone is "ok" and my pitch is "ok" but the breathing really detracts from it.. (IMO) :p

Thanks for the comments fender... I appreciate it.

and participant... you're not gonna like this... but I actually like the falsetto stuff.. I love subtle, little male falsetto parts in songs... I don't know why.. but I think those are groovy... not just DMB's stuff.. but in general.

I suppose "Too Much Heaven" by The Bee Gees is groovy :p

we have changed out mind aboot the preamp thread.

we like it now.

didnt you say you were going to listen to our tune?

we loaded the hi-fi version of your tune and it sounds very crispy indeed.

:)

LOL.. ok.. not that much falsetto... I said "SUBTLE".. falsetto in some male focal songs is great.. :) the bee gee's definitely do NOT qualify as "subtle" :p

and jeap.. what's this "we" stuff.. are you a Borg now? ...schizophrenic maybe? :p

WATYF

You have a very good voice for my taste. a nice mood in this tune. I listend this few days ago but didn't got the time to reply. good stuff....

keep it coming

yes and no. we are pretending to be a band now! we always wanted to be a band. if we were 5 ppls instead of 1 then we could get a lot gooder faster.

the bee gees wrote "how can you mend a broken heart" and al green did a great version of it so theyre not all bad...

Nice acoustic sound, and I dig those harmonies your bro. did.

I like your voice, reminds me of Erland.

Did you buy the 012 at GC or The Sound Room.

Enjoyed it very much!

Best to you,
Pete

I never heard the original but this sounds good.. I did remind me of Erland for some reason.. Maybe even like a Cat Stevens type thing.. it sounded good.. maybe the vocals were a bit tooo soft, but I guess the original probably sounds like that too.. like Cat Stevens..

Dude. You rock.

It has to be said, I just spent two weeks on holiday in the Carribean nothing but sun, sand and my minidisk player. OF all the songs I took, 'Everyday' has now become my firm favourite.

To come home and discover you had done a cover of one of my all time favourite bands best records...well what can I say.

Top version. damnit man.

I often cover 'Nothing ever happens' and 'Here and Now' during acoustic gigs. Your guitar playing rocks, so if you fancy doing a collab on another Dela song, gimme a shout.

As for the JoeMeek, I have a VC3 which works pretty well. Ignore anything the manual says about settings. I found setting it up according to the 'vocal' settings made me sound like poo. The 'acoustic' guitar settings were closer to a good vocal setting, but you really need to play with it until you find something that suits.

Whilst on holiday, I also finally figured out who you remind me off........Counting Crows. and 'Everyday' reminds me of the song 'colorblind' only better.

Dude. Keep it up.

peace

Nick

edit: I'm impressed that you guys in the US know Del Amitri...they were massive in the UK at their peak, and still get top 10 albums every time they release.

WATYF...if you like dela, you should try and take a listen to 'Ocean Colour Scene'. Big UK band who make some fantastic stuff, but also release 'B'side albums with the original songs the way they were written on Acoustic......you would love em.

Nick.. sorry to take so long to reply.. I've been away for a while too... If you ever want to do Dela stuff, I'm totally there dude...! :p

My favorite by them is prolly "Driving With the Breaks On". If I remember correctly, (which I don't do too well... :p ) your stuff had some pretty good drums in em... (which is my weakest point right now, since I really have no way of adding drums to my songs) so if you want to do a collab of a Del cover, let me know.. we'll work oat who will do what, etc. etc... but you'd have to do the drums.

Let me know..

P.S... I sold all the MQ3's (and made a profit on each one.. :D) and went with the DMP3 (which is what I knew I shoulda gone with in the first place.. :p) It should be here any day now and then I'll go back to makin' music.

WATYF

Just as I was thinkin "what if WAT-YF came back" :p

Now hup 2 3 4... Track Rat! dres! WHAT-YF! Where's the collab?!? Yer leeeeeef... yer leeeeeffff... yer leeeefff, right, leeeeeffff!

;)

I'm glad this thread came back up, because I hadn't seen it.

W O W

I'm sure I'll sound like a parrott, er... parott...hrm..parott...ummm.. a talking bird that repeats everything, but this is absolutely beautiful. All my favorite songs are in some form of open tuning...and this acoustic sound...I'm on my 4th or 5th listen, and it strains the ear NONE...I'm sure you explained in here somewhere how you recorded it. (*runs to take notes*).

This is not just good. It's beautiful. I'm not even taking off any points for it being a cover. Absolutely beautiful.

I'd be jealous if I weren't so happy about finding this.

Thanks
-chris

wow... well thanks for the glowing review.

I'll save you the search... the acoustic was recording using only an Oktava MC012 mic, mounted at the 15th fret (or so), aboot an inch or so above the fret board pointing down, and to the right, towards the sound hole. I ran that into my cheapie little behrenger mixer, and voila.. :p I did a little EQing to bring oat the highs and used some compression to keep it even... then added two.. that's right.. count 'em.. two stereo spreads.. that's what gave it the "full" sound.. (well duh) :p

I've been messing with the mix on and off lately and just uploaded the latest tweak.

Brother Watyf: I could not make out the words in the first 2 songs, partly because Im deaf, partly because they are too low. I really wanted to hear the words too, we need some more praise a worship stuff here. Great guitar, very talented playing nice flowing arrangements. Ive got a song I just posted in this group, it has deep Christian roots, Im new at recording but you should get the gist of it. Gotta get some recording skills first then someone with a voice to sing it.
Thanks for the treat
