Hey flyingace well done. I like the mood swing within the lyrics which by the way are really good, and the guitar work stands out also. Cheers. Guy
Hey, thanks! I'm still hesitant to try any more of my songs using these tools. It sure helps bring your vision to life faster than all the production of either my analog workflow or DAW and the fact that I lack the resources finding someone with the right voice to sing my songs. But the stigma of using AI seems to be a detractor for many people taking it seriously. So I'll continue to call these songs "demos".Hey flyingace well done. Thanks TAE!
I kinda hate that the AI, even just used as a tool, has this stigma to it. Almost as if my song isn't "real" or something to some folks.
No one gives shade to the sculptor for not giving credit to his chisel and hammer, no one blames the carpenter for not giving credit to the drill and saw... why does using AI to help complete the "crafting" of a song make any difference?
Well put! The more I got into songwriting and music working in the recording studio in the early 90s, I saw how many bands really couldn't play their own songs. We would have hours of takes and sometimes even bringing in a session drummer or guitarist to complete the work, sometimes the artists didn't even know their producer was doing it and thought those were legitimately their own playing in the songs! All those songs we grew up with in the 60's , 70's that I thought were all just done by the artist putting them out...other than covers. But once I got into recording and all the information and background of how songs came to be I was chagrined again. So many songs written by writers, so many songs recorded with session musicians and such.
Not cheesy but definitely not what I thought / believed of how they came about.
Things like Suno are an awesome opportunity for us common folk to get to see what it might be like to be signed to a record deal and sent off to LA, New York or Nashville to work with songwriters and session musician to make an album...except way faster than the old fashioned way....That's the kool aid I'm drinking and I'm planning on getting totally stoned on it.
Like you I will probably re-record some of the more important songs....but I may just go a head and let some of the 100's of songs that I have written over the last 50 years that have been sitting on a shelf in the back of my mind go out into the world 100% suno...least there out there.. good , bad or indifferent better than never getting out of my head and a heck of lot easier and better than I could have got them out there pre AI.... I'll take a ritz cracker with that cheese wiz please!
100% it's art and it's not a competition a turd on a white piece of paper is art...if no one likes it well then don't quit your day job..If everyone loves it congratulations! You've just created a new art genre..Poop ArtBTW flyingace your teacher was wrong.
I have a similar story of where a good friend who's opinion I valued greatly laughed when I told my plans to go knocking on doors in Hollywood with my shiny new Roland sh3 synthesizer in hand...circa 1974 I bet there were less than 10 in all of California...Anyways he thought I was delusional thinking I might get a gig and I kind of felt foolish and ended up not going out and knocking on doors...I built a band instead that was going to kick ass...40 years later as he is sitting in my music room listening to me play I tell him the story...He was pretty ashamed and had no idea the impact that had on me at 22 years old...hey but I built a kick ass band Cheap Day Return ...Circa 1978 recently colorized old poster of ours...Picture was taken in San Marino California in front of some mansion. That's little ol dejected me in the middle ...what a crew.Agreed! oh and thanksAi as a tool to help create songs is not really that different then collaborating with other artists to help get the music out. I think that we all agree that we can’t let it control every aspect of the song creation in order to maintain that degree of ownership for the human creator. As far as banging out a bunch of songs as TAE is proposing, I see nothing wrong with that as long as the works are not misrepresented. BTW flyingace your teacher was wrong.

Nice, thanks for the share! It's crazy but at young impressionable ages we fell for other people's insecurities... I know that now. But I too do not regret the path I took. I had a great career for 27 years in graphic design working for ad agencies and for my own company. I got there by way of playing guitar and keys, working at a recording studio and someone in a band's dad saw my work for his poster and album covers, hired me in the interview that he called me in for. I barely had a portfolio! Music has given me so much, I am so happy to be a part of this forum with such great folks AND I'm happy to have this 2nd chance to enjoy the art of songwriting!100% it's art and it's not a competition a turd on a white piece of paper is art...if no one likes it well then don't quit your day job..If everyone loves it congratulations!
