Hey flyingace well done. I like the mood swing within the lyrics which by the way are really good, and the guitar work stands out also. Cheers. Guy

Hey, thanks! I'm still hesitant to try any more of my songs using these tools. It sure helps bring your vision to life faster than all the production of either my analog workflow or DAW and the fact that I lack the resources finding someone with the right voice to sing my songs. But the stigma of using AI seems to be a detractor for many people taking it seriously. So I'll continue to call these songs "demos".

Thanks TAE!
I kinda hate that the AI, even just used as a tool, has this stigma to it. Almost as if my song isn't "real" or something to some folks.

No one gives shade to the sculptor for not giving credit to his chisel and hammer, no one blames the carpenter for not giving credit to the drill and saw... why does using AI to help complete the "crafting" of a song make any difference?

Change is hard for many...The youth will be the ruin of society.

People hated when digital replaced tape...there are still people who believe a vinyl record sounds better.

Ai is leaps and bounds "different", more powerful and game changing. Not just for songwriting and music production. Everything we know and touch is being affected by it and it is not going away.

I have a FB friend who suddenly is posting all these deep profound thoughts and responses. Very cool I didn't know he was so articulate and intelligent. Then I grabbed one of his post and asked Gemini if it was AI and it deemed it was definitely an AI / human collaboration.

I really liked the post and the deep profound thought behind it and the way it flowed and all. But that he posted it like it was all his work and his words...well in my thinking that's kind of cheesy.

All those songs we grew up with in the 60's , 70's that I thought were all just done by the artist putting them out...other than covers. But once I got into recording and all the information and background of how songs came to be I was chagrined again. So many songs written by writers, so many songs recorded with session musicians and such.

Not cheesy but definitely not what I thought / believed of how they came about.

Things like Suno are an awesome opportunity for us common folk to get to see what it might be like to be signed to a record deal and sent off to LA, New York or Nashville to work with songwriters and session musician to make an album...except way faster than the old fashioned way....That's the kool aid I'm drinking and I'm planning on getting totally stoned on it.

Like you I will probably re-record some of the more important songs....but I may just go a head and let some of the 100's of songs that I have written over the last 50 years that have been sitting on a shelf in the back of my mind go out into the world 100% suno...least there out there.. good , bad or indifferent better than never getting out of my head and a heck of lot easier and better than I could have got them out there pre AI.... I'll take a ritz cracker with that cheese wiz please!

Well put! The more I got into songwriting and music working in the recording studio in the early 90s, I saw how many bands really couldn't play their own songs. We would have hours of takes and sometimes even bringing in a session drummer or guitarist to complete the work, sometimes the artists didn't even know their producer was doing it and thought those were legitimately their own playing in the songs!
Then to find out most pop songs these days have 14 songwriters credited and that many of the top ones don't even write a single one of their songs... but that said, it doesn't make me dislike those songs, many like "Wrecking Ball" and some of Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter songs are some of my favorite pop songs.
If I had my druthers, YES, I'd rather do it like my heroes like Led Zeppelin, Big Star, Beatles and solo singer/songwriters like Cat Stevens, James Taylor, etc. I wish I had time to devote to programming all my own synths and drums or charting my songs out and having session musicians come in... but that's not realistic. It's doubtful I'll ever get my music heard or be famous (not that I'd want to be) at this point, I'm 54. But to leave behind some songs when I'm gone for my friends and family to say "Grandpa Patrick wrote these awesome songs!" OR to encourage others to continue to achieve their dreams.

As an aside: when I was 14 or 15, I was writing 4-5 songs a week. I made the mistake of showing the lyrics to an english teacher that I thought I respected for her to just tell me they all sucked and I should consider another hobby. It was harsh and really unnecessary of her. Later years I found out that she was a failed poet teaching middle school english and was just probably enjoying diminishing a kid's hopes to make herself feel better. Sadly, I took it to heart and although I continued to play in bands, I rarely wrote lyrics anymore. Just music for those bands. Now starting about 2023, I attended a songwriting workshop and the host was great at pulling songs out of you. I want to continue when I can and if AI can help... so be it!

Keep up your work, look forward to seeing your next song post!

Ai as a tool to help create songs is not really that different then collaborating with other artists to help get the music out. I think that we all agree that we can’t let it control every aspect of the song creation in order to maintain that degree of ownership for the human creator. As far as banging out a bunch of songs as TAE is proposing, I see nothing wrong with that as long as the works are not misrepresented. BTW flyingace your teacher was wrong.
