oh hehe

Well most of my Modplug tracker stuff is sitting on my hard disk, cos i dont have a website to index or upload it. And quite a few are still not completed yet.

I got 1 or 2 that are finished, still sourceing some new samples.

Just to clarify my post Keith, the A77 VU's are permanently connected to the source, no matter which way you have the source/tape switch for monitoring.
Different to your PR99 where the VU's monitor whatever is selected.

Cheers Tim.

Keith, I was reading something about A77's and it seems the VU's on the later A77's were changed to read either the source or the tape playback, whichever was selected for monitoring, as is usual.
So there you go. Hope my error hasnt caused you any confusion. Thought I'd better mention it. Good luck with the A77's.

Cheers Tim

ok tim no probs.

I did manage to get channel 2 meter working, and on this model the vu meters register on record only. I think it is the Mark 3 and 4 that registers on both playback and record.

Channel 1 meter is still dead.

1 thing i might try is swapping the record amplifiers over as a process of elimination just to see if it is the record amp cards or the actual meter itself.

Also my machine is a mark 2 and when the capstan motor spins up it makes a quiet whistle sound. So i don't know if this may be a lack of lubrication on the capstan motor bearings.

Thanks for your info :D

Sounds good Keith.
Re the whistle, I think that is from the motor tacho sensor. It's a fine clearance between it and the milled marks on the motor outer core and I think the whistle is there to some extent on all models, B77, Pr99 etc. I have a feeling there was an upgraded sensor that was quieter.
If you have a need to adjust the sensor cleanace be very careful as they can be damaged.
cheers Tim.

ok thanks

I read in the service manual that if you mount the tacho sensor on a peice of rubber, it can dampen out the vibration noise and may stop the whistling, so i might take a detailed look at it and see if that is possible.

Got my new tandberg machine today and just finished testing input and output and it is perfect.

I swapped the cases so that the machine with the working amp is in the enclosed case.

Working one on the Left and the one with the faulty amplifier Right

Enjoy :D

Studiospares sell 407 in that format, and Canford sell Zonal 846 in 3600 (hub only - no spool). I think it's 406-compatible, but to be honest I have no idea.
