Ok Here is my Revox PR99 MKIII
I have found resources to get repalcement heads (£140.00 GBP) (arround $350.00 U.S)

I'm goint to get these. Price is no object to me compared with what i can do with this machine.

This machine is my pride and joy :D

Also i have learned that Revox issue a 30 Year warranty on their machines for servicing carried out by them :D

2 Tandberg Series 15 Tape Recorders

These are my 2 Tandberg machines
1 is a 2 Track Mono and the other is a 4 Track mono and stereo

What i am doing here is copying from 1 tape to the other using a 5 pin DIN lead

The 2 track mono machine works perfectly and the 4 track machine is the one that has the dead internal amp. So i am copying a 4 track recorded tape to a 2 track machine so i can play it on the internal amp :D

Close up of the Tandberg four track Machine

Closeup of this machine currently palying back a tape i am copying to the other machine. The heads on this machine are perfect with no waer at all. and the tape travel path is perfectly clean without any signs of wear.

Hence the reason i love them so much because they were built to last.

Close up of the Tandberg two track Machine

This is my recently aquired Tanderg Series 15 2 track machine.
This machine is currently recording the output of my other tandberg machine.
Converting a 4 track mono tape and transfering to 2 track mono.

This tape has the old 1960's radio broadcast "Music while you work" as broadcast by the BBC. So i am making a copy of this tape and later i will transfer it to my studio machine for archiving.

Fostex Model 80

This is my Fostex Model 80 8 track machine.
I have already made 4 tapes using this machine but becasue tacks 1 and 2 dont work on playback i had to use tracks 5 and 6 instead and the sound is superb and clear.

Heads might need replacing later as they are starting to show signs of wear.

I know the right roller cover is missing. This is because the previous owner rounded off the threads by over tightning the cap and he tore out the threads so i had to use a screw instead to support the roller.

It works great.

Are you serious about the warranty ?? Do you need to have the original sales slip / be the first owner ? Any catch etc .. ?

Great about you getting a new headstack! That's not a bad price at all.

Nice picts btw. :)

This all goes to show that tape machines are going to be servicable now and 50 years from now! :D

yep i was told accross the phone by a seller i was getting a set of XLR audio cables from. :D

All machines serviced by a Revox approved enginneer will carry a 30 year warranty :D

Revox PR99 MK III

Ok in a few weeks i am going to need a HUGE load of 10.5 inch tape reels as most of the ones i had were shedding oxide so had to run off the tape and keep the reels. The tape is for my Revox PR99MK III

What is the best tape to use with this machine.

I know quantegy but there are loads of different types to choose from and i want a tape that wont generate friction when winding at high speed as i have seen on older tapes resulting in increased tape guide and head wear.

Just finished recording 2 tapes with it and the sound is absolutely PERFECT :D

The sound is crystal clear so this has to be the best machine i have ever owned but it really needs an MRL tape to properly set up the levels as they appear to be slightly out.

I have emailed Canford Audio about mrl tapes so i am awaiting a reply from them.

But just in case does anyone know the correct type of MRL tape i should get for this machine (details below)

Manufacture = Revox
Make = PR99 MKIII
Type = CCIR
Speeds = 7.5 IPS and 15IPS
Tracks = 2 Track
Max reel diamater = 10.5 Inch

Any info greatly apreciated

Whenever I do that I put a hand behind my back and cross my fingers... plus if you didn't sign anything, you can’t legally hold yourself to that promise. :D

True :D

I love the little portable reel to reel machines.
Especially the tandberg machines cos they are so reliable :D

Like my Gramophone ??

Here is my other audio addition to my collection. A wonderful looking Decca Model 75 from 1932. In fair condition concidering it is 74 years old.

This one is very loud even with the soft tone needles, and with loud tone needles it blasts your ears out. But i gotta love it :D
