Last night I finally received a Yamaha MT100 I had won on eBay.
I already own one & am very, very happy with it. I needed a spare as my songwriting/performing collaborator has moved away & isn't computer inclined. We still want to write together & I'm not inclined to swap MP3s. I'm in the process of detailing it to send to him so we can swap 4 tracks tapes.
It turned up dirty but really well packed.
After an exterior clean, head & capstan clean & demag I gave it a run. There were problems with the meter selection switch & one fader. After investigation & employing a pair of tweesers I removed a moth from under the fader, some other bug from in the selector switch and lots of debris of unknown origin.
A little vacuuming & another wipe over & it works really, I mean really well.
I did a quick 4 part guitar arrangement to test the pres & line ins & all is A.O.K.
That means for AUS$66, including delivery, I have the reasonable wherewithall to convert another person to the analogue realm.
I am, as the title says, a happy chappy.
Mind you the bugger had better like it.
Oh, yeah, I know alignment and stuff will be an issue but I'll get to it.
Oh, & on that point here's a link to a site that sells test cassettes etc. Haven't bought from there yet but it look interesting:

Any prior knowledge of this mob?
With the exception of that important aspect I'm a pig in pooh.
