This is my first posting in homerecording's forum. I have a major issue with audio imported off zoom's H4N. We recorded a bunch of audio in 4-channel mode, with two additional wireless mic's in the XLR's. I had monitored the live feed, and did playback a few times afterwards to check levels. All 4 channels recorded, but after dumping the .wav files--from the 4 channel folder on the H4N--they're only recognized as a 2 channel .wav file by both windows and sony soundforge 10.

If anyone is able to tell me where i went wrong, or where the issue is, it would be a great help.

thanks,

Brannek

So- what channels came out on Windows? Did it mix separate channels, or simply ignore 2 of them, and if so, which ones?-Richie

maybe I'm reading to far into your sentence, but it almost seems like you expected a 4 channel wav? FAIK, you can only have 2 channel (i.e. stereo) wav files. So, I'd be looking for (4) single channel wavs (one for each recorded track) or a pair of stereo wavs, where one wav would have two of the channels and the other wav would have the other 2...

thanks for the reply guys.

I made a super noob error--actually, just an oversight. I thought that the H4n would record the 4 channels into one .wav file, but instead into two files (4C000i.wav and 4c00m.wav). Like a goof, the few files i checked were only the "i's", but the "m" files--which were right next to the "i's"--were the other two imputs.

Wow, i felt like a goof. Thanks for your help guys.
