I like those mixes on older records. But although I can get away with hard panned mono drums, keyboards, strings, pretty much any instrument, for some reason hard panned bass has just never sounded right when I've tried it. I find it intensely irritating.

I always experiment with stuff like that. Generally, my clients and fellow band members like more mainstream sounds, but I did release a couple songs with similar hard pans.
