I'm realizing I have to get a set of monitors for my home studio. I've got a ProTools set up, with a PreSonus Blue Tube mic preamp, Shure SM-57 & 58, and some misc gear.
Yamaha NS-10's seem the most popular, but they've been discontinued. Any recommendations on other monitors -- I've heard Alessis are good, what about the other Yamahas? Tannoys?
What do I do with them when I get them? Can I hook them up to my regular home amp/receiver like I'm currently doing, or do I need to purchase a special dedicated power amp (which I will someday, but I'd rather spend money on things that I don't have)
What should I keep in mind while mixing with flat response monitors, because from hearing them in studios, the NS-10's didn't sound great, or is this what they mean by getting used to flat response?
thanks,
Arthur

) but search 4 'monitor' and you will find lot of threads that gives u a good overlook. If done, you may tell us what music they r 4 (if you need muchos bassos so maybe the 20/20's will fit better) (btw i myself dont like the ns10's because they r too harsh)
but i also only tested them at my local seller. so c'mon guys with the 20/20 vision give us your comment...
