EQ: Graphic-vs-Parametric

I would appreciate any opinions on Graphic-vs-Parametric EQ rackmount units. The need (I think) I have is EQ'ing between Tape and CD when remastering.

I'm a little ahead of myself in this process, but have been offered a Carvin EQ2030 for $100. The home studio I'm building includes tracking to Teac 3440; mastering to Tascam 32 ; and remastering to a Tascam CD-RW2000.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Usually parametric eq for that kind of application Rich. I've got a couple of old Rane SP15's that I use. I've also got a dual 15 band graphic eq that I've used occasionaly as a high pass filter and to mitigate a phasing issue that sometimes appears when I'm making dual mono cassette's from a mono tape but the parametrics are always in the chain for all other applications.

Having said that, there's nothing to stop you using a graphic.

A graphic EQ can cause all kinds of phase issues when used in the mixing/mastering chain on the whole mix. I recommend a true parametric with an adjustable Q control. I use two channels of a Tascam PE-40 for mastering with excellent results. :)
