I recorded this Don Mclean tune today. I recorded the guitar with two mics, each panned opposite sides, the vocals on a separate track. I tried to get a good balance between the two sources. I used the Avalon AD2022 preamp into the UA2192 AD/DA, then inot the E-MU 1212m sound card and Sonar 4 Producer. Your comments are appreciated, thanks! Empty Chairs

Vrey nice.....vocal is pretty close to what you'd expect...very good job on that. Guitar sounds really nice also....not sure if it's too quiet, compared to the vox....could come up, but it's not a real issue.

Nice one man...

Thanks Simman,

Some say the Avalon AD2022 is thin sounding compared to some other preamps, which may or may not be true , but I think the transparent quality of it is its strong point. Then, add a high quality AD/DA and it really shines.

Really great sound on this take Rick. The guitar and vocals are crystal clear and have an excellent tone, captured beautifully by the Avalon and UA.

Your vocals and guitar playing shine on this one.

I thought the vocals were a bit loud when it first got going but they seem to blend better as it flowed along. So I would say (as Dogman said) it not a big issue.

Great track....dowloading for my collection....

:) :D :) :D
