My initial impressions are favorable. I am having to listen at lower than normal levels due to people watching tv right nearby, but it sounds pretty well balanced and I can make out all of the parts well enough.

Some of the breaks and changes remind me of ELP. There is that classic haunted house style organ sound in there too which is an interesting sound I don't hear often.

I thought you just did drums/bass/keyboard? Have you always had a guitar around, or is that new?

I'm not sure I'd stick with the horror house organ in the intro. You might be better served with something more synthetic & bring the pipe organ in later.
You MIGHT overdrive the organ a little to get a richer rock sound also.
I enjoyed the listen - good guitar tone.
Could be a rockier Sky!

Thanks guys. New mix up, same link. I may have made the phaser effect too strong on the guitar, probably take it down a notch or two. The original I felt the effect was virtually non-existent.

I don't play guitar. That "guitar" you hear is a bit of studio magic. Jazz Bass, tone knob all the way up, neck pickup down bridge pickup all the way up. Playing down right above the bridge (with my fingers, I'm too dumb to play with a pick, which is why I suck at geetar). DI at half-speed (I love Reaper for that). At regular speed, goes up an octave, now at proper guitar pitch. Put a little compression on the DI signal to emulate that compressed humbucker feel and also to compensate for the quicker decay thanks to the speed up. Then reamp into a 2x12 Marshall, mic, and there you have it.

I'm trying to get a gothic feel with the organ, not so much a haunted house feel. Which is why I'm using a Church Organ vsti as opposed to my usual Hammond vsti I use on everything else. I'm not sure a bit of overdrive would help with that "sound", in that case may as well switch back to the Hammond.

Thanks for the feedback! Mix still in progress (as well as the other 6 songs on this mini-album).

(can't spread rep to you guys yet)

Nice tune.

That guitar sound kinda bugged me a bit, I liked the arrangment of the tune and the composition itself, but it was kinda in the way.
It would be cooler IMO if the bass played thos lines alone, slightly overdriven.

I think hammond organ slightly overdirven would still keep it gothic, but a tad less cheesy (no offense meant:o).

This could be a full scale ELP rocker, but that might not be what your after:D

Sounds like a Halloween season hammer horror soundtrack. The tough thing with instrumental arrangements is maintaining listener interest. It started and finished well, but there's a bit in the middle that wanders around, seemingly without purpose

Hmmm I was messing around with different presets on my Hammond vsti's but couldn't find one that emulated the church organ feel. I threw on an overdrive plug too to the church organ but it didn't change the sound that much. I'll work on it some more, fiddle knobs here and there.

Thanks for the comments. I'll put up a new mix sometime soon.
