Thanks guys. New mix up, same link. I may have made the phaser effect too strong on the guitar, probably take it down a notch or two. The original I felt the effect was virtually non-existent.
I don't play guitar. That "guitar" you hear is a bit of studio magic. Jazz Bass, tone knob all the way up, neck pickup down bridge pickup all the way up. Playing down right above the bridge (with my fingers, I'm too dumb to play with a pick, which is why I suck at geetar). DI at half-speed (I love Reaper for that). At regular speed, goes up an octave, now at proper guitar pitch. Put a little compression on the DI signal to emulate that compressed humbucker feel and also to compensate for the quicker decay thanks to the speed up. Then reamp into a 2x12 Marshall, mic, and there you have it.
I'm trying to get a gothic feel with the organ, not so much a haunted house feel. Which is why I'm using a Church Organ vsti as opposed to my usual Hammond vsti I use on everything else. I'm not sure a bit of overdrive would help with that "sound", in that case may as well switch back to the Hammond.
Thanks for the feedback! Mix still in progress (as well as the other 6 songs on this mini-album).
(can't spread rep to you guys yet)
