Ear Fatigue!!!

Yeah the vocals sit much better. The doubling sounds a bit weird at parts though.
Small changes in reverb settings on vocals make a big difference, same with EQ and compression.
The vox at the end took me by suprise, a bit loud, but sounds really good.

Thanks. I wanted that monologue to be a bit louder so it would catch you by surprise. It's my favorite part of the song. I originally put the sound clip from the movie in there, but there was too much background noise from the soundtrack on it, and it was in a different key, so it never sat right. We both recorded it, but his voice and inflection was closer to the original...

I think I am happy with the instrumental part, as no one seemed to have anything that stuck out as bad there. I am going to see if he's over his allergies and wants to try to retrack. It did come out better when I removed the doubled "whisper" track. The backing vocal in the first chorus was a cut and paste job I did, to see if it would match up. It didn't.

I probably won't be able to post the retracked vocals, and I feel this song has played itself out.

Sorry for the late post Rokket, but I was out of town.

Much better vocal mix. Only thing I hear that might make it better, is bring the instruments up just a little in the mix. Everything sounds good, just a bit quiet. Don't bury the vocals though.

I could try that, but I already have the song as close to 0dB as I could. It would take a bit of work, but I will give it a shot.


Any comment on my acoustic guitar's tone? I've always wondered if it was any good (it's a really cheap guitar)...

Actually, the guitar sounds pretty good. Fits the mood of the song well. Not too bright, but clean. Did you record through a mic, or does it have a built in one?
Anyway, better mix this time, and good song.

I used an AT Pro 100 dynamic on the guitar, through my mixer. Standard mic placement, about 8 inches away from the guitar at the 12th fret aimed slightly toward the soundhole.
