drum bus questions

I think I have it figured out....

He came in asking all these veiled questions about how to improve his drum sound and talking about how best to track and mix real drums...
...but all the while he was really asking how to improve his sequenced/sampled drum sounds, though he didn't want to come right out and say it.

Then when his posts started falling apart...he decided the only way out was to impress us with his music.
He probably figured we would be blown away, and the sequenced/sampled drums would pass by unnoticed or without a lot of negative comments.

So far...everyone in the MP3 Clinic is saying the same thing about the drums...thin, too bright, robotic...etc.
That's pretty lame when you use samples and they sound totally ass.
But hey...they are tight, the auto-quantize did its job. :D

Thanks for the advice. Im glad you liked the song also. I Will say this as non abrasive as i can.

I Think that when you ask for peoples opinions on any subject everyone will give a different view. I had no problem taking advice at all. The only problem is that when you ask a specific question and get ten people saying the same thing on a totally different subject it gets old. I wasn't mixing a song with real drums this time around so i wanted to know if there was a way to get a little more out of the drums i was working on. Tips, or advice or anything new that could have helped. Even if i didn't say i was using fake drums, that shouldn't matter because the drum program i used can still benefit from some extra processing because they are still real drum samples. The problem seemed to be that when I said something as small as a guys drums sounded more processed than eq and compression he got a little bothered by that. Then he came off as an ass saying at least treat your fucking room. That is how you start an argument. And he does it a lot to people. I think the issue with arguing with someone on these threads is a new guy don't know shit. I do know how to record and write songs. I am not the best at recording it, but i think for what i work with it sounds pretty good but not stellar. And i would have said that if i wasn't defending myself. Which most of this thread i had to. Then its with the were not telling you secret, its because there are none.I know there aren't magic sound good buttons. And you can find any process by very seasoned AE'S out there all over the net. I wanted people in my recording situation to help because my recording gear isnt the best. I did give and take alot of shit but i think that greg guy is a shit starter and everyone knows it so i gave back. Then of course we get the dogs barking at me from his yard. I easily still believe that my music stacks up against anyone on here. The songs are there and i can get a good recorded sound but like i said slow computer creates a lot of obstacle. You guys can say i fell on my face but the song is good, the foundation is there it just needs tweaked. When i posted it i knew it would get bashed. If you bash it at least say why you dont like it. Not from personal taste of music but from the mix and sound of it. I did play into all the stupid shit and ill admit im just as much an ass as the next . But id love to help anyone with a question without trying to make them feel inferior in the process. Sorry to all i made mad but you did do the same shit as me. If you dont like the questions i ask dont answer them. If you dont like my music give me pointers and not go out of your way to be be a jerk. Ill quit swingin my dick around from here on out as long as everyone else does too. I play lots of different styles and all I really want is to make my stuff sound as good on tape as it does in my head. I will always take constructive criticism but the egos and attitude can be saved. I dont think my stuff is the best but i do think it is decent. I like to experiment with music and dont always want a (how it should sound) sound. The drums on that track are not the best. I can remix and re post with the advice i have and then maybe if you guys can stop this entertaining yet exhausting virtual brawl then i can also. I do understand a lot of the concepts behind getting things to sound good but there are always a way to make it sound better with the technology we have to record on.

This thread has done nothing but keep me from recording which is what i should be doing. Enough stupid shit and we will move on.

The mix doesn't sound bright because he used samples. It sounds bright because he mixed with headphones or an improperly treated room.

So you're saying he had good samples...but then made them sound like ass. :D

I'm not saying anything about the quality of the samples or drum programming at all. Just the tonal balance of the overall mix.

Man...you could have stopped back on page 3....instead you kept the thread going.

Exactly. I suppose he'll blame us because he couldn't refrain from fanning the flames. :laughings:

I like how this guy admits that his main problem is that he's jealous of me. My online stature, my natural drum sounds, my writing, my multi instrumental talent, my clique, my dogs, my cheerleaders, etc. :laughings:

Someone tell this clown that everyone hates me and that he's so out of his mind that I look like an angel compared to him. :D

Just kidding offcenter. Don't blow another gasket. You can't possibly have any left. ;)

Just kidding again, buddy!

Its a joke that your the punch line of. And the couple of the old dudes are just playing the same old shit. Talkin shit cause even if they tried they couldnt write anything relative in todays music. Keep up the good work guys.

Lol @ anger and hatred and rage being the only response - every time.

Even with the OP's retorts hidden, this shit is too funny!

:laughings: :laughings: :laughings: :laughings: :laughings:

Im done with this thread...

That's like the fifth time you said that.

...even if they tried they couldnt write anything relative in todays music.

Coming from a guy who posted up a typical Pop tune as his showcase piece. :laughings:

I heard your other couple of tunes on Souncloud.
I guess if you want to do the same-old Pop/Alt Rock (flavored with cheesy white-boy Rap) that's been done to death by every 19-year old rock star wannabe (oh wait, you're already over 30)...yeah, that stuff is real "relative".

Man...don't try to be another clone, be original.
You'll get it eventually...maybe.

Side note ---
Every time I run a spell check, it tries to change "offcenter2005" to "offender".
Fuck, even the spell-checker has your number! :D

Yeah, I told you that last bit yesterday...

As for the rest - maa-ate - your writing's the same as your drum programming..... a bit of light and shade would help.... heard of "paragraphs"? They're a new concept that all the cool kids are getting into...

If you luck out at music you have a great career in web design ahead of you, let me tell you....

Haha. I knew there was something fishy about your post. I didn't think you were the combative type. I was like "I don't remember this guy being so angry". :D

Yeah man, not much online combat from me :D There are a few knowledgeable folks here who will sometimes act a little anal, but a lot of people here make great music and take out the time to give great advice. Maybe offcenter will realize that.

Dude...hit the enter key every once in awhile. I edited your post below to make it readable. Hopefully I put the breaks in the right place.
