However much I sympathize with your objection to Tom's last post, what makes it even more worthless is that whatever wit it contains is not even original. I've seen that quote a number of times before in the past.

Tom, if you are going to post something like that, it is better form to say: "As someone once said..." or something like that. At least then it wouldn't appear that you were trying to take credit for someone else's alleged cleverness.

Nice try, but you should say: I was wrong doing that, it was offending to many of you and I apologize for that.

Then we will respect you for that and have a fresh start.

Not that nice of a try. Even "I didn't intend any offense" would have been far more acceptable than: "I didn't do anything wrong. But..."

It's interesting how some people are just incapable of such a simple and decent admission...
