 So what's up with everybody or SO MANY people on the Triton trip.
Is it the ultimate in producing? Do you have to be a keyboard player? Are the contained sounds THAT dope? Is it easier to bang out snares? kicks? bass lines? someone please enlighten me. And how much would a secondhand one go for?

I didn't like mine, so I sold it...

The sounds in it were outdated, and the MIDI connect wouldn't work with my PC and Reason without some additional equipment from Korg which retails for $300.

I got fed up, and sold it.

Is it a nice piece of equipment? Yes... Is it worth the money? Not in my opinion...

Reason 2.5 = $300. M-Audio Radium MIDI controller = $180. Multiple sites online sell thousands of sounds for very little money...

The cheapest Triton is $1200... You do the math. :)

Big ups to you Change......can you school me on some of those sites for sounds?

There are quite a few of them, I'd suggest a couple good ones I've experienced personally though...

www.modernbeats.com - They sell high quality sound kit's for a great price. $30 a kit or something... All different formats, SF2 for Fruity Loops, Acidized files, and Reason Files too. Also, you can use them as .wav files if need be.

If you're into loop CD's and drum CD's etc, this site: http://www.soundsonline.com/ has a great collection. I've used them before, and they're pretty high quality as well. They are a bit pricey though.

If you want high quality loops, try www.platinumloops.com or www.loopgalaxy.com as both have very good loops with high quality, and decent pricing.

That should be enough to keep you occupied for a while.

i use a triton studio and fantom x.. both boards are awesome.. the sounds in the fantom do sound more like the real instrument.. but then again.. there are new sounds you can always load into the triton and have cleaner sounds.
most ppl don't know how much power the triton series really has. i love the triton studio and won't ever get rid of it. i just back up my pcg's all the time and load new ones or i load new samples and pcg's.. ppl always ask me where's that sound in the triton... i have so many sounds most ppl don't have.

for my mv8000 i have just about every kit from mv8000sounds.com

Reason is nice to have these days. you can do a lot but its nothing like having a fantom-x, triton studio or motif at your finger tips

but to answer your question CHIZZLE
"Is it the ultimate in producing"
for some it is, but theres always a k2600,motif es, or fantom x.. just depends on your budget and what you already know/willing to learn.

"Do you have to be a keyboard player?"
not at all.. its a major plus, but hell i play by ear... some ppl never belive me but i do. i use to play sax so i do know notes rather easy.

"Are the contained sounds THAT dope"
some are.. but you can load new samples in it anytime you want. even akai soundbanks.. load um right up... tweak the sounds and make them your own... the triton is a easy to use powerful board, period

"Is it easier to bang out snares? kicks? bass lines?"

vs what???
for me, i can do the drums on the triton as i can with a beat machine... not all ppl can though.. it took me a long time to perfect it though. if you don't have a mpc/mv8000 its time to start learning how to program drums right with they keys and the editors.

triton studios are rather expensive new or used. you may wanna look at the triton extreme or a roland fantom x... with this board.. roland took their throne back.. not to mention the new os.. but i wish it had a touch screen.

 Big ups to y'all .....Change and C9......
damn this is an education!!! I've got a Roland 606 I'm learning on. I don't want to be a gear junkie but I'm real interested in the Fantom but it's a lil expensive ... I'm not that familiar with Motif but I've priced a 61 key Triton and it seems almost attainable....but I'm not sure if I actually need the additional equipment . However I'm sure the addition couldn't hurt......
hmmmmmmm...... :o
