hi, i am new to home computer recording, and i have a few questions that i would appriciate opinions on. first of i'm on a tight budget (like everyone else) and want to make a solid recording. i have recently bought a dman pci sound card, a art tube mp and a shure sm57 mic. i am not in a band i just want to record some songs i have written and i want them to be pretty good quality. is the equipment that i have really any good, without spending a ton more money? everything i have read just seems to open up a lot more questions about what i need and how much money i have to spend. also is there any good computer recording programs for under 100$? any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks! jimmyjames9

a good recording software is n-track studio, you can download it at www.fasoft.com it can be had for 35 bucks. I think it's a great prog. There are quite a few people here that use it I think.

Jammer songmaker(soundtrek) or band in a box(pg music) are both under a hundred. These you can use to add studio musicians if you want to showcase your songs. Cakewalk and pro audio will require you to "play all the instuments if you prefer that.Go to the Edirol home www.edirol.com, click on products and you'll see listings for desktop
music midi,software,audio etc.
