No one is claiming (well, not many people) that $200 SP mics compete with the stuff Fletcher deals in. The consensus is that these mics are good... for the money. Fletcher's not going to say anything any different. He chooses not to sell SP because he almost exclusively deals in top-of-the-line gear, not because it's a bad value.

This thread is about cheap Chinese made mic's in general and I have have no idea what Fletcher would say or not say... all I said was I think Fletcher would be a good person to ask. If you have a problem with that too fucking bad.

You slam Studio Projects, you give no real reason to back up your hatred of them, and then when someone asks you to defend your arguments rationally, you say "too bad."

And you didn't know the definition of "regime."

You still haven't gotten back to me on whether you're know what the word "coup" means. No, it's not a car.

So who else has their mic's made in China and what other China mic factories are there other than the ones already listed in this thread?

There were/are 3 main manufacturers in China........797 Audio, Soundking and Fielo. Also Marshall have apparently set up their own facility.

It could be said that there is a difference between having mics made and buying virtually off the shelf.

I am a Chinese . Sorry for my poor English .

In fact , mic made in China are much more than you can imagine . Not only cheap mic , but also expensive mic (over $600). And many other equipment are also made in China . For example :

Mackie mixer , monitor(624) and more
Focusrite mic preamp
Lexicon effect processor
all Behringer
all M-Audio (made in Taiwan)
some Presonus

Why ? because :

1, China has the most cheap worker and labour in the world . A worker in China can earn 100 - 250 dollors per month .

2, China has big tradition technic in basic industry . For example , China has the best and the most vacuum tube .

3, China Yan (money) is cheaper and cheaper .

So , " Made in China " are cheaper than others .

Any question about China , I can answer .

I think only a few mic's from China are really good. Is there child/slave labor in China?

No . In fact the worker in audio equipment plants has more pay and better treatment than other plants .

World's Largest Microphone Manufacturers Team With Chinese Officials On One Of The Largest Pro Audio Counterfeit Raids
AIC, Shure, Sennheiser Confiscate Nearly 50,000 Counterfeit Items

Shure Incorporated and Sennheiser Electronic GmbH & Co. KG, the two leading manufacturers of microphones worldwide, have joined together with China's Administration for Industry and Commerce (AIC) to take a stand against the production and sale of counterfeit microphones. On Wednesday, December 12th officials from the AIC's Jiangmen and Enping offices conducted raids at three locations of one counterfeit manufacturer, and routine inspections on four other manufacturers located within Enping City, China. Over 50,000 pieces of Shure and Sennheiser counterfeit items were confiscated during the day's events, making it one of the largest raids to be executed in pro audio history.

"We asked Sennheiser to join us in this fight because we wanted to show a united front to counterfeiters and consumers alike, demonstrating that our industry will not tolerate these activities," said Sandy LaMantia, President and CEO of Shure Incorporated. "We embrace fair competition, which inevitably pushes the industry forward, but we refuse to stand by idly as people attempt to deceive our consumers with inferior versions of our products bearing our name."

The December 12th raid uncovered large quantities of counterfeit Shure SM58®, BG Series, and 14A models, as well as Sennheiser Evolution 818 and 835 microphones. All goods were confiscated pending an investigation by China's AIC, but inspection and testing revealed that the counterfeit goods had very poor sound quality and severe handling noise.

"Product piracy is an immense problem which damages the reputation of the whole industry. Therefore it is only logical to work together with our competitors in planning and implementing effective action against a common opponent," said Rolf Meyer, President of Marketing and Sales at Sennheiser. "We have an obligation to provide our customers with a quality standard, and will do all that we can "

Are there any others?

danshi, thank you for joining the discussion group and helping to shine some light on this subject. One of my main concerns about buying microphones that are made in China is that your government might be using some of the money to build weapons to take over Taiwan and etc... the USA government is no better.

I believe if us people of the world can become friends... then our governments will have to become friends also. This is why I'm very happy that you join this group... so we may become good friends and therefore help start world peace.

DJL,

As you know I disagree with your ongoing campaign. But I must commend you for keeping your good humor and, for the most part, a positive tone in your messages. This last one is something we all can agree on!

My English is poor .

The money that our government can earn from audio equipment trade is very very little . The biggest money is from drygoods, dress, basic industry and chemical trade . Don't worry about those mic from China , just reject the drygoods and dress .

I don't support our government . Of course we can be friend . But my English is poor , I just can say a little English .

Please try to stay on topic! :D

What I said was in response to Mark mentioning me by name and our website, and the guy that I quoted was commenting on the pics on our site in response to Mark. Is that OT?
