Anyone gonna leave me some feedback/tips/ways to improve my recordings?

I don't know what kind of advice you're looking for. You're talking over pre-recorded music. I here you talking. I hear the music. What else can I tell you?

Actually, the one I am listening to is mainly singing, and good singing at that.

Because of You sounds like a million bucks. This is very pro stuff.

I'm a little confused here. The three songs dont add up, they couldnt be by the same people. What does "remix" mean? Are you rapping over someone elses song??

Yeah.... They were all over other peoples' beats.... That "Because of You" was over Ne-Yo's song.... I just rapped in the beginning of it....

I was askin' for what you thought about the quality of the mix over the beats.... How well I fit it in.... Thanks tho'...

Please more responses 'n lemme know....

In that case, I would concur with my colleague from Montreal: it's talking over someone's song. I am a classical geek, I have no point of reference AT ALL. I just dont get it, why are we listening to it?

Come on yall, not everyone can write their own songs. ;)

Well, we know YOU can write a song.;)

The poster might have better luck in the rap section, seriously. I am not putting him down, I try to encourage everyone here. I just literally have no point of reference.

So you're a TOASTER. That's the old Reggae/dancehall term if I recall correctly.
You do a synchpopated intro to a track - usually a little humourous with a tag. Like the early Madness tracks.
A bit like being the announcer at the Apollo - screams, cheers, stompin' & applause but not really for you if you get my drift.
Problem is that saying "f it, listen to this." doesn't meet any of the criteria.
If it's just the spoken couple of lines I'd rather hear the real performer do it.
Did you get approval to taost on those tracks? Hope so.
You spoken voice sound OK & the recording seems clear but there's not much evidence of your skills at rapping, toasting or recording.

dancehall...reggae....toaster (also a ska band called the toasters)....reminds me of a joke....

how many rude boys does it take to screw in a light bulb?

4. one to drop it, and three to pick it up, pick it up, pick it up!

Blah blah blah.... Mock all ya'll want.....

Anybody actually willin' to give me real feedback/tips for how I mixed it 'n got the vocals to sit on the track? I wanna make it sound natural yet clean sounding.... Wondering if I accomplished that with the amateur equipment I have....

If not, have fun with ya'll ignorant mockeries of something you obviously know nothing about... Especially considering ya'll are blatantly admitting you don't take any interest in the form of music.....

Oh yeah, and to those who say I can't write a song.... Ok.... Guess I didn't write the lyrics that I "spit".... There's more to rapping than "speaking over a beat" as ya'll seem to wanna put it as.... But have fun, once again....

Don't get cranky. I commented on the things you wanted comments on.
I gave an opinion of what your role on the tracks was - it's what MC's used to do hence the name Master of Ceremonies - they introduced acts, events, and paced/sequenced an event: be it a wedding or a gig.
It's just that YOUR work isn't much in evidence.
PLEASE post something that has more of you or just an editied section that is YOU. Otherwise I'm left bewildered as to who, what, when, where, why & how.
I LOVE good toasting in ska & reggae - it CAN set up a piece beautifully.
P.S.: what gear did you use?

Slow down homie. You got some opinions. It's hard to critique something that's not even really "real". Besides, why would you care about the opinions of people that, as you put it, don't take any interest in the form of music? There's a rap forum here that I'm sure will give you feedback you desire. I personally try to listen to as much as I can in here. I didn't comment on your stuff because I have no idea what I'm listening to, and momma always said, "If you can't say anything nice................" :p

I made that comment and it wasn't really directed at you. It was more of a jab at myself since I never write my own songs. I'm a cover-song whore. I'm not ashamed. :D

nooooooooo.... hahah

MC in hip hop is master of ceremonies/move the crowd/microphone controller....

MC is any rapper that gets on stage 'n performs.....

I'm the rapper/MC....

And I only used a Studio Project B1 microphone with a UX2 interface with phantom power 'n Adobe Audition 2.0....

haha... Nah, I write my own original lyrics.... I just added onto that Ne-Yo song just like Kanye West, Joe Budden, 'n several other rappers did.... I just wanted to add my perspective to the topic he was talkin' on 'n I love the song so I remixed it....

Not all the songs were like that....

And I was talkin' to you.... I was talkin' to the people that were attempting to put me down.... 'n I do not come on this site a lot so I didn't know there was a hip hop section.... So I do appreciate that....

I wasn't lookin' for what ya'll thought of as me as a rapper.... I was talkin' about how I layed the vocal over the songs.... If it sounds like it fits naturally..... Cuz ya'll are engineers/producers so I get a feeling ya'll could give me advice.... THAT'S WHAT I WANTED....

To see how ya'll thought I did as far as mixing.... I'm not great but I'm tryin' to learn.... I have very basic equipment 'n just wanted to see what ya'll thought.....

Thanks....

I don't know what kind of advice you're looking for. You're talking over pre-recorded music. I here you talking. I hear the music. What else can I tell you?

I'll simply repeat my first post. The thread should have been closed after that, because it's the only repsonse you deserve.

You're talking over someone else's music. It's that simple. You say we know nothing about this form of entertainment??? Well, this is a MUSIC forum...MUSIC....Something YOU know nothing about. Now go change your diapers, get some talent, turn 13....and them come back.

I might not know about engineering 'n mixing but I DO KNOW MUSIC.... Fuck outta here with that ignorance....

You obviously have to mix to lay vocals over a beat.... I was askin' how ya'll thought the mix was on top of the other beat cuz you can lay vocals over another persons music 'n it could sound completely outta place..... Fuck outta here.....

And once again, if you think rapping is "talking over someone else's music" then you're ignorant....

First of all, you're not going to get away with trying to fool us.

Let's get a few things straight. First of all, contrary to what you probably think, I love rap and I know a few people can vouch that I'm one of the only people here who comments favorably here when someone posts rap. I've even got into a few altercations with people who didn't like rap and insulted the poster.

Secondly, what you're doing is not rap, so don't try to sell it as that. We're nowhere near as ignorant as you are if you think anyone's that stupid. You are simply TALKING OVER PRE-RECORDED MUSIC. Period.

Thirdly, "beats" are samples, loops or any other musical arrangement that one raps over.
You are simply TALKING OVER PRE-RECORDED MUSIC. Those aren't beats and you're not a rapper.

I think I'll take a Snoop song, press play on my CD player and then talk over it. I'll call it "rap" and "beats" and then tell everyone they're ignorant if they think I'm a dumbass wannabe.

And I only used a Studio Project B1 microphone with a UX2 interface with phantom power 'n Adobe Audition 2.0....

Only? What more do you need? Its a decent mic and a good program. Audition is used in half the radio stations in the US to do voiceovers.

I might not know about engineering 'n mixing but I DO KNOW MUSIC....

Then show us. Do something more original.

I'm on your side MC. I dont discount any artform, there is a lot of rap I think is excellent. What that music has is originality, biting sarcasm and social commentary, solid production values, humor (in some cases), etc.

What those successful rappers also have is chutzpah, which is a yiddish word that basically means "balls". If you come in here and disagree with the comments, the worst thing you can do is start insulting everybody. If you believe in your music, that is all that matters. I make classical music, I dont expect everybody to like it or understand it. I am more of an outsider than you are.

song just like Kanye West, Joe Budden, 'n several other rappers did....
Just because they are famous doesnt mean squat.

Do something DIFFERENT. Use a vocoder, change the songs tempo, play some of it backwards, use a flange effect, add some humor, change the feel, place a historic quote from Abraham Lincoln in the text, come up with a different beat, speak in an accent, have the text be in 5/4 against a 4/4 background, put in a musical subtheme, quote another rap song, speak in Klingon or chinese, sample a dog barking and put it in there, put historical tv clips in there.

Go back and study the 80s rap. That stuff was unique and different.

As for the mix? Its fine.
