Cheap mic suprise

I don't usually do this, but I couldn't resist.

I was at MARS in Cincy last weekend, and on a clearance table was a Behringer ECM8000 on closeout for $25. I figured even if it totally sucked, I could get $25 of use on SOMETHING. When I got home I set out to do a little test by recording my acoustic guitar, which I have not been happy with lately.

I was very suprised.

I posted a new song in the MP3 clinic with the song that resulted from the test. After tracking the instruments, just for kicks, I recorded the vocals with the ECM8000. Again, I was very suprised with the results. I would never have thought of trying that mic if it hadn't happened to be in front of me. I guess just another lesson along the way. I think I'll try to find another and use them often.

This little mic is great..Harvey posted about it during the Xmas season, and I bought 4..I hated them at first because I was testing them with a low-budget home stereo speaker <ie improperly>..but for $25, this thing kicks ass..If I had more money, I would have bought 4 more, and just used them for toys, like stick one in a kick drum, and oops, the SPLs blew the condenser..oh well stick one right on top of the snare almost touching it, etc...try to find another one, so you can do stereo recording, they're discontinued by Behringer.

I had a GC sound salesguy call the Behringer rep to ask about the discontinuance, and we were told that they were not being discontinued. Does anyone have any official info saying that they are?
