cant hear

hello, ive had my edirol fa-86 firewire for half a year now...and all of a sudden when I try to record I can hear whatever im recording but I cant hear anything thats supposed to come out of my computer...

I can still record through a microphone but I cant hear the music thats supposed to be playing at the same time...

any ideas of what could have happened?

Most external sound devices have a control panel where you can check or un-check "input monitoring" or something like that. Or maybe the same thing is accomplished from within your software app. That sounds like the root of your evil.
