Can anyone please help a desperate person in solving this major snag that I've encountered? Everytime I attempt to record, or even play back my recorded material, I'm informed by the dooming statement of "ERROR" "DRIVE BUSY"!!!! If it's time for me to look into a new device, then I must move on, but if this is a common problem amongst other BR-8's with a solution at hand, then any helpful info sould be greatly, greatly appreciated!! thank you! Mahalo....Jay.

I've got a BR-8 too. I remember that happening to me a couple of times as well. When it did, I powered down, unplugged it, powered up. presto. I don't know if that was what fixed it or if it was coincidence. BTW, now I only use my BR-8 as a pre-amp of sorts, for DI'ing guits and bass to my PC. When I got the BR-8 I was amazed at it's capabilities compared to my old 4-track. Now I can't believe the capabilities of my PC compared to the BR-8. I still love it though.

Thanks people, for the response but I've tried everything possible on my own to solve this problem and gianed no luck. It seems that I have to get it serviced.....fast! Considering that Hawaii shops are asking for at least $350 for repairs, I was wondering if there's anywhere on-line that sells affordable BR-8 drives, or does anyone suggest that upgrading to a higher memory capacity could eliminate the problem? Basically, is the zip drive the core problem, or does it run deeper than that? thanks for any feedback. Mahalo.....Jay.

The drive is an Iomega internal ATAPI (IDE). 100meg or 250meg.
These are available quite cheap and replacement only requires a screwdriver. The BR-8 files can be saved to a pc if it also has a zip drive. It may also save the day to copy to another disk.
I believe the new 750meg zip drive also works on the BR8.
