Bluetube vs. DMP3 vs. VTB1

Whoops, I take back what I said. The DMP3 is an excellent preamp. I just think its probadly my At4040 since it lacks highs. But again the DMP3 is a perfect preamp for hiphop and r&b vocals. Sorry for the misinformation.

If you have trouble getting a good sound out of an AT4040/DMP3 then perhaps it's not the AT or the DMP3...

Haha, yeah thats about right. lotsa gain. It has been a little while since I used one, but it seems like it did have a little bit of haze to it compared to some of the more open-sounding preamps I have now. Nothing too bad, and some people may interpret it as "warmth". Definitely good for the price. I traded mine to a guy for some Bose headphones. :(
Just sold these same Bose headphones for way more than I coulda got for the DMP3, so the :( now becomes a :)
 
Only thing I have experience with is the Blue Tube pre, and that thing was a hunk of junk. I'm thinking about trying out the DMP3 since everyone seems to love it.
