...Let me state something as "possible facts": You have taken on singlehandedly, the task of damaging the reputation of PMI (and Alan Hyatt specifically) as much as you possibly can. Further, you have absolutely no intention of ever buying any of PMI's products, either now, or in the future. Your single purpose in these threads is not to gather information about their products to help you make an informed buying decision, but to gather evidence against them to discredit them in any way you can. Those are my "possible facts".
As to why you're doing it, I'll leave that to others to speculate...
You know DJL, Harvey makes a good point here. Just as an observer, it does cause me to wonder about the high percentage of SP content in your post here as opposed to other manufacturers.
I’ve not heard you refer to Nady, MXL, Oktava, CAD, Rode, SE, Cascade, Behringer, or even Radio Shack mics as “crap” although their price/quality ratio has, up until now, been below that of SPs. I’ve never heard you complain about things like some of these mics having a lousy 5 cent output transformer (Scott Dorsey said you couldn’t even get and audio frequency square wave through them) giving them a dull lifeless sound, Oktava’s poor qc and poor components, or CAD’s tremendous current drain, let alone things like Rode quietly switching to an el-cheapo NT1 capsule once all their reviews were out.
Some of these companies are putting out better stuff for less money now, but it’s only because they have to compete with companies like SP. So thanks to people like Alan, all of us bottom feeders get to reap the benefits, even if we don't buy his products.
Until Marshall lowered the price of the V67G and it started going for $79 on eBay, there wasn’t a mic on the face of the earth that could touch the quality of the SP-B1 for $79! And save for the V67, and maybe the MK319 when it’s on sale and you can find a good one, there still isn’t anything even in the ballpark. I just recently discovered that the B1 uses the same capsule as the MXL 2003, which still sells for twice as much! Also, the B1’s circuit, though not the same, is equal or perhaps even better in quality.
I know you’ve got some real nice mics (like I wish I could afford

), and like Harvey said, I seriously doubt you’ll ever buy anything from SP, so why are you so curious about them and not any of the other countless mics out there? Why don’t you ever ask Behringer to post pics of their circuit boards, call Oktava crap due to their poor qc, or complain about CADs drawing a ton of current?
Like freshmattyp said, we really don’t know a thing about you, who you work for, who you do business with on the side, or anything. For all we know Behringer or some other mic company is paying you to come here and insinuate negative things toward PMI. Believe me, companies have stooped to lower things! I’m certainly NOT accusing you of this (I said “for all we know…”), but the evidence really stacks up against you sometimes because you never appear to be biased against anyone else. Let’s face it, lot’s of people don’t like SP mics, but they don’t get on here and rag Alan like you do. Again I’m only talking about appearances here, so don’t take this the wrong way. Are you even aware you’re being viewed in this manner? I seriously don’t know if you do or not.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you shouldn’t complain about things not being a good deal or point out flaws, but give the other manufactures equal billing in this area.
Just a little friendly advice: Never, I repeat, NEVER expect to learn from other people when you approach them negatively. You have to befriend them, be very considerate and give them time and space to answer you. If they don’t, then making demands only drives them farther away. Also, learning from people is a great way to make friends, and in my experience, the friendships become much more valuable then any of the things you learn. People are just way more important than stuff.
