ok I have a Crate BXH-220 Bass head (and cab) ..

the input has gone south..

for some reason they had their 1/4" jack built into a piece of the circuit board, well this broke off long ago... its been a jiggle and hope input for some time.. but now that has ended... anyway...

the board has 4 wires going to the jack, but it seems like (by looking at the trace path) that 2 of each of these go to the same path.. 2 to ground ... 2 to (input)..

i was just wondering if anyone knew why they did this??

i have just twisted the pairs together and soldered to a standand 1/4" jack (i will upgrade to a sheilded jack, but i dont have one quite yet)..

thanks

it was probably a switching jack of some kind. maybe it muted the input as the chord was plugged or if it has more than one input it might change the impeadance whan both jacks are in use.

nope only 1 input... why would the muting jack need extra wires though? that all go to the same place?
