Taming the World--for now
I did a quick search and then the ADHD kicked in. Offhand, does anyone know the difference between an AT4050 and an AT4050 CM5?? If somebody has the answer on the tip of their fingers please respond. Otherwise I'll get after it tonight in earnest. Thanks, Dave.

there is no difference, though some older 4050s had a response of 20hz--18,000khz.

and the new ones go 20-___20,000

Thanks guys. I ordered the AT 4050 CM5 last night. Dave

AT4050 change

This is the reply I got from ATUS about the AT4050:

Sonically they are identical, however, the current AT4050 uses surface mount components and is ROHS compliant. ROHS compliance means that no lead solder was used during production. In addition, the shockmount is different; the original AT4050/CM5 used the AT8441 shockmount, and the current AT4050 used the AT8449 shockmount. Hope this helps.

Basically the same mic using updated parts that can be machine placed thereby reducing assembly costs and ensuring higher reliability. The downside to surface mount parts are ease of repair if a part goes bad. You need fairly sophisticated repair skills and equipment to replace a bad part, or to modify with an improved part.

hehe.....2 and a half years later......that's classic. :D

Maybe, but I needed this information right now, for the first time. The web is a *public* resource, dude.

Do you realize that Rami's post is in fact 2 years old, and he was addressing the person who posted just before him--and not you?

Unless you...nah. Time travel can't be perfected yet...

What the fuck are you talking about? My post is 2 years old and I was talking to someone else, who was 2 years late at the time. Who the fuck was talking to you, Bozo?
