I am moving into a new house where my bedroom has a wood floor instead of carpet like my old bedroom. Are wood floors preferrable to carpet in a recording environment? Are there any things to consider when treating a room with a wood floor?

Thanks

Yes, and if you have a low ceiling, throw some absorption up there to break up the ceiling-floor reflection. Even the nicer (fiberglass) ceiling tile will do.

wood flores are nice, but I would advise you get some throw rugs becouse, depending on your setup, it might lead to some unwanted reflections.

As long as you have absorption/diffusion above two feet, you should be fine. Even if you don't want rugs.

Wood floors! Hey, maybe if you rip up the hard wood floors you'll find carpet underneath... :)

Everyone may not agree with this but in my opinion, hardwood floors for drums, clean guitar, acoustic guitar; carpet for bass, vocals, and heavily distorted guitar. This isn't any kind of set thing, just what works best for me most of the time.

psychoacoustics

I just like how wood looks. I run up to my east-windowed studio just to enjoy the sun shining down on the oak. Mmmm.

Things just sound nicer when they look nicer, ya know?

that seems to be true, though I doupt it is the looks that make it better, but more the insparation or feel the musicians get that translates into the music.
