are B-52 amps any good?

I had the chance to play one this afternoon. I was rather suprised. I played the stealth 60 watt head into a 2x12. The rectifier sound was way nice...almost but not quite Mesa Rectifier. I played the clean channel for a while which was very clean and loud. Has headphone outs and a line out, spring reverb...pretty nice for the price. I can't of course attest to its longevity but the thing comes with a 5 year warranty.

It strikes me as a pretty nice rock/metal budget head.
 
While fiddling with a stealth series stack for a few minutes in a Guitar Center, I couldn't get a good low-end out of the sound... it sounded too thin to my ears. FWIW
 
I don't own that model, but my LG-100 is very good. Above avarage amps in the price range. Somebody once said they sound better with the matched cabs, but YMMV. If you can aford it, get it.
 
I haven't heard anything bad about them. Of course, the're pretty new. I played one at Guitar Center and I liked the sound. Good crunch and the clean was decent. I only fiddled for about 15 minutes though.

I know someone who has one and he likes it. And for the price it seems that the're hard to beat.
 
Great Amp... Lots Of Tones...

Got mine three days ago (B-52 AT 212). It really sounds on it own. Well, comparing the distorted channel to Mesa, I'd keep this one in a ratio of 3:1.

The clean channel sounds pretty much like the 70s Fender silverfaces... or better... very round sound, somehow dark (without the bright switch activated). So far I have zero complaints on this amp. However, the reverb is weak.

It's got plenty of power, yesterday I figured this...jejeje and it can be used from your bedroom to a pro. gig.

The thing that really called my atention was the three mode rect. so you can choose if you want it to be solid state, tube A/B or tube A. They have three different kinds of sounds.... On this amp is very easy to get bluesy sonds, jazzy sounds... it only depends on how skilled you are turning the knobs. I also play heavy stuff and there's no sound I can't achieve with it.

It seems well built, thoug it overheats a lot... but I suposse engineers know what they are doing so I dont really care. Loaded with two B-52 special design speakers... the extension cab comes with Vintage 30... go figure.

The channle pedal... great... it lets you change not only channels and dist I or 2, but it bypasses reverb if you want and bypasses any external effect you had conneected on the send/return section.

Noise.... what did you say???... the only noise I get is from my guitar... the amp will deliver no noise at all... but it must be propperly grounded.
