Hi!!

I've been jonesing for a high-gain Sovtek for months, ever since I bought my mig-30.:o
But Sovteks are VERY rare around here.... They shipped them all to U.S.:p

Now I finally have a shot for a Sovtek mig-50H, from France, But the price is high, could get a JCM800 for the money...:(

Sovtek is cooler.

But I'd really like to hear some clips of its clean and high-gain sounds before
shooting the money away. And even them clips are hard to find...

So I figured I'd ask here, has anyone got any clips of a Tube Midget without any pedals??

Any comments of the bugger are also appreciated.

Aaaarrrggghh!!

The Tube midget from France I've been looking for would cost me nearly 800 EUROS with shipping...

I have a pregnant girlfriend.. Someone PLEASE convince me that it won't be worth it!!:(
...Or I'll buy it, convinced it sounds good, and I can't get it for less in Europe.
A JCM800 would cut me for 650 around here. But I know how that sounds... This could be first time in my life I'd like to live in the U.S... damn things are under 500 dollars there...
CRAP!!...

I have a MIG-50H. It's nice.
I'd:
1.) Take care of your pregnant girlfriend. It's definitely not worth the bad karma of buying an amp rather than taking care of your kid.

2.) Get the JCM-800 if you have enough $ leftover. There's no reason a MIG-50H should cost more than a JCM-800 in proper condition.

3.) Get the MIG-50H at some later point if the price is more sensible. Save a little bit of $ for a good active ABY because the amp sounds good with both channels going at once.

What kind of amp do you already have? What I might suggest is getting into some DIY and building it for cheap. Of course, you will have to spend time and money getting your skills up to snuff to build it, but there are few things more satisfying than running an all DIY signal chain. Of course, tube amps contain dangerous high voltage, so use some common sense before even opening one up.

Now, if that is not going to work, word that I've heard is that a Mig50 is just a modded JCM800 circuit, so you might be able to buy one and have a local tech mod it to Mig50 specs. Not sure if that would be any cheaper though. If worse comes to worse, take care of the kid. Then they might buy you one when you're older:p

I thought you couldn't do that?.. That if both are plugged the low-input overrides the high..?

Yes, I'm not going to starve my girl or the kid. :D I've done overtime, and some money fell to my hands.
...I'm not that sure Tube midgets ever get sensible prices around here.

It's 550 euros, not extreme, but the shipping adds a 170 charge...
JCM goeas some 650, used, around here.
