I got me a couple of condensor mics and i'm all hopped up on recording my big baby taylor ,btw i think it sounds awesome and they're cheap condensors, anyhoo the real purpose of this thread is to find out where some good tab sites for bluegrass are ,mainly for the lyrics ,and any just plain cool bluegrass sites in general ...my searches usually turn up ads for books ...i play mainly in a country rock band but in my spare time i've been getting into some Clarence White's early stuff ...so once again looking for bluegrass tab sites, thanks in advance ....

Hey!

I flatpick a bit. I think I just turned some of the guys here on to bluegrass. In another thread--Picking Technique--we were talking about metal shedders and fast picking and I linked up some Tony Rice samples and also the Kruger Brothers. It was fun to see some eyes being opened, check it out.

Having good luck with some condensor mics you said, what kind? I'm looking to get a few for recording and live. Sure 58's just don't cut it for acoustic.

I haven't been able to find much in the way of Bluegrass tab on the net. Lots of "lyric" sites.

If you're interested in a couple books I'd check out Tony Rice "Bluegrass", which is transcriptions of his work up to "Manzanita", or another book that includes a CD and has Tony explaining how he does some of the stuff he does.

Other than that I think you're almost better off trying to learn off recordings.

And hang out at Bluegrass festivals! No better place to learn the music than at a jam!

I haven't looked for guitar tabs, but I can head you in the direction of all the bluegrass BANJO tabs you'll ever need. If interested, I'll post some.

anyway....this is a top bluegrass banjo forum, has a link to tabs for the banjo and is probably one of the best banjo/bluegrass sites on the net.

hit the tabs link over on the left on this page, you'll see what you need. Alot of the tabs have it for the guitar, mando and bass as well to...besides just the 5 string banjo.

Yeah..you think VanHalen and Vai are some serious shredders.... listen to Kenny Ingram and of course Earl. They define the 1/64th note!!

btw...to save me some time...do a search on that site, and you'll find a couple of posts that just have a zillion links to tabs besides what's available there.

didn't get mail ...

saying that anyone replied just happened by and saw my thread had been replied to ....tony rice kicks ass i saw him once with ricky skaggs on pbs he had some awesome stuff ,just got "the pizza tapes " with him and jerry garcia and dave grisman it's good but they have some clunkers on there but it seems to have been very casual recording ....the 2 mics i have are MXL V67 and the Samson CO-3 both were 100$s but for no more than i do they are well worth th money i also got an alesis mixer with on board effects i go through that into an old tascam 4 trk i think its real good for the money invested ,we gave a guy some money to do a demo and it's really about th same quality if not better and he had 2- 8 trk hard disks and a 24 channel mackie board ,but we did it in an old shed and he mixed through headphones ...i'll check out those other sites also ....happy new year
