Greetings all!

This is a long story I'll try to make short. I recently bought an E-MU bundle witht he recording program Cubasis VST 4.0 as it main component. Well all was going well, effects work flawlessly and before I knew it I had a song all odne and ready to go. My trouble all began when I tried to Export my Audio Files into a usable format that I could burn onto CD. I set my right and left indicators, etc. as described in the Help files, but when I hit the Export and then Audio Files from the sub menu, a loud speaker blowing BUM came on telling me that "..a serious error has occcured..please save your project under a different name...if problem persists to contact Steinberg Technical Services with a copy of file...." Well I tried the above to no avail, and finally contacted Steinberg. To my dismay, they told me that Cubsasis was no longer supported by their staff and that I would have to contact E-MU, as I would have have to do with any bundle package. Well after a torturous relationship with them by e-mail, they basically told me that "..this is strange, we have never happened upon a problem such as yours...please refer to the following forums for help with your question.." Well this was one the forums on the list, so I implore that anyone would give me some assistance. Any questions you have of me that I have not made clear, just ask and I will be more happy to talk it over. :)

Thanks in advance

Hmmm that's interesting.

So the skilled technicans at E-Mu are deferring to the superior knowledge and experience of a bunch of dufuses on an internet bulletin board.

Probably quite a cost effective way of providing customer service

Yeah, needless to say, I was both amazed and appauled at the same time. I did everything "they" could think of. Reinstalled a couple dozen times, made sure it was installed on my C: or Main Drive, and a bunch of other things that didn't help. I've posted on this and Steinberg's Cubase Forums in my last ditch effort to make my system actually work. No greater frustration than having songs I cannot share with others. Again, and ideas or assistance anyone could lend would be more than appreciated.

mahgy. from what ive seen. most recording software that comes bundled with sound cards is what one would call "tickler software". as in tickle your fancy. its called marketing. so then you have to upgrade and spend hundreds of dollars.
try the demo of what i use powertracks from pgmusic.com.
49 bucks for 48 tracks. just search under my name for details or read up on it at the site. because i'm tired of retyping all the details about it.
i'm a long time user. you wont do better unless you spend a ton of money.

Hey manning, weren't you suppose to stop the spamming?

morningstar. not this again.
if you read the threads i asked people to use the search function. they dont do it. and complained to me about being asked to use search . i did that mainly to keep YOU HAPPY. but people complained...so i'm damned if i do , and damned if i dont.
you sir - obviously dont want anyone to know about what i use and love for some reason i cant fathom. i wonder why is that ? is it because you know its a very good inexpensive solution ?
from now on i wont be responding to you morningstar.
as i think you dont want people to know what i use for some reason.
peace.

If you want to keep me happy, STOP SPAMMING for powertracks. Simple as pie.

You try to sell the cheap software with every post you make regardless of what the post is about. After listening to what you produce, I can't imagine why anyone would want to use what you use but that's not what this is about. That's just more of your smokescreen to get away with your SPAMMING.

Did you read the messages about spamming a couple weeks ago? Why don't you respect their wishes here?

Mahgy is in a lot of trouble if we're his last line of defense! ;)

I've always heard that Steinberg didn't have good customer support, now I have some proof. Pretty stupid of them since Cubasis is meant to get you into the fold so that you'll purchase Cubase in the future. Hmmm, Mahgy, any chance you're going to buy Cubase now? Yeah, I didn't think so. :)

I know nothing about Cubasis or their file support. Can you save the files in different formats? Usually that would appear under the "Save As..." option when you right click on a file. Does it offer any options for this? Another, albeit tedious solution might be to get another program and see if you can individually save each track as a .WAV file and then import them into the new program. If Cubasis uses some proprietary format to save files, then you might be out of luck, but that would be unusual.

That probably was of little or no help, I'm sure.

One other thing- Have you tried the Steinberg forums? Surely, someone there would know about Cubasis?

(Yes they would and please don't call me Shirley!) :D

I am also no longer a steinberg fan. i to have experienced their lack of technical support, but my issue is a little different. it goes along with the latest reply on this forum though. i want to take a track from cubasis, complete with any additional takes (punch in's) and bring it into an external editor such as cool edit pro. when i send the track to cool edit, or even wave lab, the accompanying software, it only sends the first take. i have spent the last 5 days trying to get ahold of steinberg, but each attempt has been unsuccessful. i really hope i am just stupid and cant find an easy solution, but im beginning to think that that is not the case. if anyone knows how to combine several takes into one file, please let me know.

In Sonar the options are 'bounce to clip' (two or more sections to one) or 'bounce to track(s)' combines anything selected up to the complete mix, to a new track. This can be done before exporting or by exporting directly. Maybe ther is a similar function in Cubasitie'. ;)

no such luck. that would be one of those easy solutions i was hoping for though. there is an export track option, but it is really only for making mixdowns, and for some reason it always makes my tracks quieter. i cant wait till i have to make a mixdown, thats going to be some real fun.

To edit a track like you want in cubasis, click audio/ preferences and search for wavelab. Make sure segment range selection is checked. Then go to audio/edit audio and cubasis will export the selection you have to wavelab for editing and give you the option to re-import it after editing.

If your mixes end up sounding quieter it is something you have wrong in your setup, most likely your play control mixer volume settings.

yeah, still doesn't do what i want it to do. thanks though. :o
