I recently bought a pair or used MXL 603S mics and paid the money for an upgrade of both. Worked on one but not on the other. The one it worked on did show improvement. Since I was down to one mic I decided to buy at least one second mic and did some research and found the AKG Perception 170 got pretty good ratings and wouldn't break the bank. I started looking for it on line and found that the internet price for it on Guitar Center was $78 each. I intended to buy one but at this price I bought 2. Brought them home and they are pretty decent mics especially for the price I paid.
I went to the local Guitar Center and they matched their own on line price. Recording has been solid and I am happy with the purchase. I'm no mic expert but can tell a Model T from a Lamborghini. I am pleased with the purchase.
