I am a singer/songwriter interested in doing demos at home to submit to industry contacts in order to sell the rights to the song. I am working on a budget and the AKG mic comes in a bundle with other equipment. Does anyone know about this mic?

Was it a good mic? I want to use it to record vocals only.

Ms Lala, I was'nt trying to be a smartass.........well maybe a little. All you asked is if anyone knew about the mic. What do you want to know about it? The questions are easier to answer when the questions are presented. :D

a little late here, but I don't own but have used a p100, nice mic for the price, it's a little bright but that's typical, I like it's lower midrange area very much, so it's good for certain vocalists definitely. I'd do the same for it as with most inexpensive LDC from china, turn down the treble a bit around 8k (from 6k to 9k acctually) but leave the 10k+ stuff up where it is naturally, that will transform it from a fun sounding but slightly harsh mic to a great sounding mic with plenty of air, at least for the money.

p200 is same thing but more options, p400 is same thing but multipattern. From my experience though, cheap multipattern mics (like the p400) have more room for quality control issues that directly affect it's overall sound, but not always (cad m179 is a great quality multipattern mic for $179 canadian these days).

anyway, p100/p200 can sound good depending on voice and if you know how to eq in the mix.

Cheers

Just out of curiosity (since there's been a few threads about these mics lately), I look at pictures of the P100 and see an edge terminated capsule, yet seeing pictures of the 200 and 400 it looks like a center terminated capsule.

Which is it?

Anyone know?
