I've searched for some info on this here, but I've not found any good answers....

I see that there are about 4 or 5 different versions of this mic out there, and was wondering what some of the differences were between the lot of them.

Some that I've seen/heard/read about hear are: III, IV, V, SDLX, and DLX. I'm mostly interested in what the "s" version is like though.

Thanks,
Rick

I've used the ADK v51-s series IV quite a bit. From what I understand (reading the forums at the ADK website), the series to avoid is VI - something about a problem with self noise, I think. The "s" means that the mic could withstand higher spl levels, and the only time I had a problem with spl's was once when I placed the mic really close to a nasty ride cymbal the drummer used as a crash. A very good mic, especially if you can find one used and in good shape. I probably liked it best as a room mic for overdriven guitar.

I have ADK 51 version V and like it for voice-overs and even as overheads,
I think I will mod it to have the pad like 51-s.
Regards Matti
