I've been a happy happy Alesis customer for a few years - my church had a QS-8, I have a pair of Monitor-1s. Bought a bunch of the Q-Cards, too - one went bad after a couple of years, but they're cheap to replace.
Good experience with product support, too, including a local repair shop that did warranty work. All was right with the world.
Then came their Chapter 11 thing, and their acquisition by Numark. And rock-bottom prices on their stuff. Got a bunch more Q-cards, and bought a QS-8.1 for myself (I was leaving the church gig).
It never occurred to me to find out what happened to their support network. OMG!!! No local work, you have to Call Cali for approval, then call Rhode Island for a return #, then ship (you pay) to either NJ or Cali. Probably about $100. They pay for return ship.
Fortunately, I retested the 8.1 after I found out the hurdles I had to jump through. Problem (no audio) eventually cleared itself up. Factory guy had guessed a bad preamp module, may just be a bad connection instead.
Even though there are 5 months left on the warranty, I'm guessing it'll be cheaper to go to the old no-longer-authorized shop for the repairs than shipping the SOB to NJ. So I'm living with the apparently intermittent defect
That's it for me and Alesis, until they get their crap together. Consider yourselves warned.
