I wrote this today. This is what I call a "writing demo". All first takes and stuff except for huge mess ups. Sloppy guitar and stuff remains:). But I really like this song for some reason. It's not edgy, it's not new, it's not "now" or "modern".

But I just like it for some reason. You can hear the influence of my producers on it some.

"Love Lives Here"

Me doing everything, quick mixed.
Let me know what you think.

I'm listening to the lofi version right now. Sounds damn good, very well produced. Good acoustic guitar sound. Cool song!

Nice happy tune. You pro's must just pump these things out in your sleep ? Very talented indeed. Very agreeable music.

Well I'm only an amateur by comparison so I'm not sure what to offer in the way of constructive comments, but here goes anyway..

Compression compression compression. I think there might still be 1 dB of dynamic range left so you might want to compress it some more :D this track is seriously loud ! It sounds sweet but ... does it really need that much ??

The main guitar sounds good but kinda drones after a while ... with all the compression it almost sounds like a synth.

The backgroud vocals sound good but they are too quiet in my opinion.

But it's a great tune. I'm totally jealous of you skill (and job) , great voice too.

Cheers

wolfman and dre, thanks for listening!

Apology...I got carried away with the Waves L1 Ultramaximizer. How I LOVE that plug-in!:)

dres- which main guitar, the acoustic? Thanks for your input!

Sounds like a hit :)

It's got a really happy, catchy, fun feel to it. I have a hard time sitting still... just want to get up and dance lol

Sounds maybe like a grateful dead jam or something (that's what just came to my head at least)...

I'm listening on low-fi, and it still sounds great. The bass seems slightly heavy, but it may just be low-fi and weak speakers lol

I'd love to hear that song live... fun, fun, fun...

Keep on Jamming ;)

Yep it's the acoustic I think and there's something else there droning away I can't identify. Lead electric sounds fine.

On listening a second time I'm sure less compression will help a great deal to give it back some punch. Also while I'm listening... can you maybe make the vocal sound a little bigger ? It's a good sounding voice and shouldn't be overshadowed by the guitars IMHO.

I`m at the office. I`ll listen to this when I get home in the a.m. I cant get mp3`s past the firewall here.

adams-
Thanks, I was hoping to hear one dancer! Me too!:)

dres-
This may knock you out, but there are 8 guitars stacked besides that little lead diddy. Thats probably the droning you are hearing.

You are right about the limiter!

Thanks!

Flip ! 8 guitars !! no wonder. so that's how you make a wall of sound LOL ;) I've never heard 8 guitars stacked before...no wonder I didn't recognise it.

Why not knock some guitars out ...I'd like to hear your voice feature more.

Disgustingly good....I'm gonna go slice my wrist with my capo for wasting my time on the shit I record.

Damn near infectious. (your song that is)

Thanks for the help guys.

Don't go hurting yourself. I am trying to swing Eliot Sloan to do this as a duet with me, that would excite me!

thats a really upbeat tune you wrote there man. THe song makes good sense too. I like that groove the guitars make. The drums could come up more for me, but I`m just a beat freak :)

the vocals are getting a little buried by the guitars........the guits sound great, but maybe they need to be turned down a bit, or eq'd so the vocals get through a bit more..............

i really like the method of guitars........sounds almost like a stereo'd acoustic & electric similarly panned........sounds good......

nice song.......good job so far

Great song, you must be a seasoned songwriter.. Great to hear meaninful lyrics (none of my songs make sense)...

Great job!

Must........... Listen............ Again.............

thanks so much everyone fro listening, really. It means alot to me to get your input.

powder, you now know my secret for all my songs :)

I've made a note to self to drop guitars a bit. It was kinda a late night first mix for me.

Thanks!

sure!

The acoustic is my special Martin DM I have. I am usign a Studio Projects C1 mic'd 4-6" from the neck joint above the fretboard. The mic is runnning through a Symetrix 528 channel strip with just a bit of compression but no EQ. The guitar is then doubled and panned hard right/left.

In the mix, the guitar is EQ'd..well..I'll attach the EQ picture.

Hi Hard2Hear!

Wow, good tastefull stuff! Like the others noted, beef up your voice a bit. Double it, pan them slightly off center, hell you know already! :) Congrats a nice tune! Do I dare say it sounds more like Country than pop?!? :)

NIce tune dude. Makes me feel good too.

I think the kick drum could have more thump ( volume/comp) in the intro.

Your rhythm gits sound very tasty and groovy. The electric lead around 1:35 ish got lost in the mix and the exit electric lead could use a boost as well imo.

Definitly a song worth tweaking. Can't help but enjoy it.

Peace,
Theron.
