421 placement

Ive been using a md421 to mic my guitar cabinet with good results. BUT, does anyone know which side of the mic is supposed to be the FRONT. Should it be pointed directy at the speaker or is the pickup pattern centered on the side of the mic? Thanks. john

if i understand you right

a 421 should be aimed at speaker,almost like a gun... or from a different perspective if you were recording vocals sing into the bar on front of mic this is where capsule is

this is difficult to visualize w/o pictures!

the 421 is not side addressed its front addressed. i like it for toms.. but its too $$$ for me to own, ive used it in a studio before. i have e604s they are rockin for the price.
