So, is there any way I can run my roland to the mmp-2?

Im going to be really angry if I have to buy a new sound card or Pre...

Call roland tech support and ask specifically about a fix for SPDIF output. About all I can say...

it's not just you...I have an MMP2 and an audiophile and I can't get a thing out of it into my Audiophile 2496 or my Emu 1280 via spdif. At my school, I also tried hooking it up to a DAT recorder and a Pro Tools mbox and a bona fide pro tools TDM rig. No go.

BUT...here's the kicker. The exact same unit works on a digital mixer and some digital speakers at the music store I bought it at. This is actually the second MMP I've owned and still can't get working SPDIF out.

I also tried the AES/EBU out...that works fine. Just that spdif that's annoying.

Neither Roland nor M-audio tech support has been able to figure out anything.

You said the AES/EBU outs worked fine...

What did you test them on? They worked, just not in the digital convertor to the 2496?

Im not sure whether to buy a new pre, or a new soundcard...

I tested on something that had an AES EBU in...in this case, both a DAT recorder and a Pro Tools HD rig. No problem. The SPDIF into both of these machines nada. The AES/EBU into a Hosa CDL-313 outputting SPDIF to an audiophile does not work. same with an Emu on the end.

Call Roland specifically about a firmware fix for the SPDIF out. Someone was telling me it exists, but I can't find it on the website.

Other than that, there are other good digital pres out there, such as the Mindprint DI-port and the dbx 386.
