Any DM24 users with an apogee ad16x, How to connect?

I have been using my DM24 with my motu 2408 mk3 (connected via TDIF) for over a year with great success. I recently added an Apogee AD16x to my rig and I'm having some difficulty recording through it. I think my question is can a return (ADAT Trk 1-8) be assigned to channels 1-16 and also be...

Bass in the corners of my room. Now what?

Will the locations of the nulls and peaks be reletive to the location of the monitors or is it an actual physical profile? I don't have an easy way to test this out. It strikes me as a billiards game where the point of origin will determine the locations. Should I get 2" or 4"? Cheers, RD

Bass in the corners of my room. Now what?

I'm kind of embarassed. I just watched the videos on your site and discovered that my improvised tests were very similar to those you presented. I also saw that my peaks and valleys aren't as plentiful as the room you tested. There might be some hope! Cheers,

Bass in the corners of my room. Now what?

I'm getting a bit more scientific... Last nite I downloaded the Sonar file from your site. After looking at the wavefile I recorded from my mix position I nearly had a heart attack. As 89 Hz nearly disappeared and then 116 Hz went through like a tornado I could only shake my head as I heard...

Mixing in that powerful kick and snare without clipping

I like to dig a little space in the other instruments for those frequencies peaking in my kick and snare. The thought being that since these instruments are always in place the hole wont be noticed. I have also started mixing my upper midrange a tad lower. For me, this makes the kick and snare...

Bass in the corners of my room. Now what?

Okay. Would treating the corners flatten things out or just change the response? My tests were done at a much higher level than I ever use to mix. At about 85db the effect is barely noticable and that is about as loud as I get for doing any work. I guess I'm wondering when reflection becomes a...

Bass in the corners of my room. Now what?

I have a fairly large recording/mix room. It's unusually shaped but not free of the typical problems. I feel pretty good about the way my mixes are progressing. As the mic cabinet is satisfied, my pre's are making me happy and my monitors are working for me I am beginning to think more about my...

    Voice over mic?

I'm currently in the middle of a companion CD for a Hal Leonard Uke book. I used a KSM44 for all the voice overs. At first I was thinking a dynamic would be best but the KSM was the most naturally smooth sounding mic for the task. Voice over work is new to me but I checked out a couple other...

anyone get the new free vst plugs?

Do you need to download a free calculator too?! "Norwegian" is Sweedish for "New Jersey". C'mon, everybody knows that! :D Of course they might have exempted the enormously talented. If that's the case and I got the email; then maybe I suck! :(

Use WaveLab's spectrum analyzer in Sonar?

That is totally logical and the reason why it did not work. I was just looking for the wavelab window to open. Furthermore it's very cool that Sonar will ask if you want to update the wave! Thanks to both of you. I am so glad that I'm able to post to this bbs again. About 8 months ago it...

Use WaveLab's spectrum analyzer in Sonar?

Hi all, I was looking to install Wavelab in the tools menu and found this thread. When I tried to follow the instructions from the cakewalk FAQ I was unable to actually find the TOOLS folder in the Registry in the location they specified. When I tried the little program mentioned above it...

    Post your favorite production tricks!

Much like the pork industry uses the whole hog. I like to use scratch tracks for all that they have to offer. For example... Singing guitar players often sing and play while the band gets basic tracks recorded. I use that vocal track for all kinds of things including compressing the hell out of...

    My Soundproofing Plan

No. Mass stops energy and fiber board is not very massive. 5/8 drywall is massive but even that will only do so much. I realize this is probably not an option but electronic drums are the best solution. Drums set the volume of the band. If the drummer can groove quietly then the rest of the...
