Is the 3.1.1 patch a must - I installed a UAD 1

I am wondering if the 3.1.1 patch might be giving me more problems than it fixed. I never had any problems before I installed it but now that I have I'm having trouble like never before.

I installed a UAD-1 and the patch at the same time. I've had crashes galore and basically my once perfectly operating DAW has been reduced to a shell of it's former self and my studio to a pile of useless equipment.

The UAD1 might be the cause. It gave me some trouble at first but now it is seemingly working well. The crashes don't seem related to the UAD1 but I've been using it alot lately.

I'm not sure where to look.

What's the current view on the 3.1.1 patch?

Cheers, RD

If I use 3.1.1 on a new song, everything is fine and runs like clockwork.

Occassionally using a song created in either 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 3.0 or 3.1, I get some weird things regarding automation, but that's it.

I do not have a UAD-1 card.
