Microphone care...or, basically put, is it OK to just leave your Mics set-up in your

studio...and not put them away after each use?? I wonder what the Pros say about this. Large diaghram mics especially...does it ruin the diaghram to leave them out, on the stand..all the time?? I ask this because when I want to record.. I want to record, and having to go through the process of...

    Roland CD-Rack vs. ????

I have a chance to get the Roland CD-Rack Digital Studio Storage Pack. It's $500.00 at GC. I'm unsure if this is the way to go for me though...I don't have samplers presently ...and the storage "bay" feature may go unused. But I guess the question is...as far as Storage to Cd's and Burning your...

    Ensoniq DP4 users out there..

Any Dp4 users...please answer a few questions. Is the software version (1.14 in my case) upgradable?? I just picked one up for the units versatile functions...and great sounding algorithms. In my configuration, which would be the best "config" to use it in. I have a Roland 1680 DAW with 2...

    Mic'ing Vibes and Marimba ...best placement/mic type/stereo....

These are big instruments and I'm having a hard time getting the sound right. Above, underneath, straight at the bars ???I just don't know. I've heard of three mic's being used on the instrument?? I've got one C414 tl2 and one Neuman 184 I'm trying out. Bebop

Mic Cables...what's out there that's worth the $

I'm using some C414 TL2's and Neuman 184's. I've seen the Kiwi, Blueberry et al...I know Monster makes a pretty substantial cord too. What are folks going for these days?? I know the bucks can be worth it. Bebop

Simplest Reverb... old or new..under $600.00

I just want a simple reverb...no pages to scroll through, a few tweaks would be just fine but I find the newer lex's to complicated and overloaded with stuff I;ll never use. Any recomendations for a simple reverb unit less all the other whacky effects?? Bebop

    AKG C414 B-ULS / B-TLII comparison for my needs

Any one with experience with these mics (and I'm sure there are) that could steer me toward on or the other. I will record through an ART pro MPA into a VS1680. Mostly recording acoustic instruments, vibes, marimba, orchestra bells, crotales, frame drums, small percussion..... I love the...

Using outboard effects with the VS 1680..or in other words, what's the deal with ...

effects cards. I want to use a alternate reverb unit with the 1680...a Lexicon 200 to be exact. How do you most efficiently send and recieve with outboard processors on the Roland products...Spidf..optical...burn two channels?? I'm really an acoustic musician who wants to record with a nice...

Stereo Micing instruments ...when to/or not to??

When do you stereo mic an instrument and why?? I understand larger instruments may need 2 mics to cover the area (marimba etc) but is there any rule of thumb for stereoing regular instruments?? Thanks, BB

Anybody bypassing the effects cards and running outboard effects soley??

I'm thinking of getting a 1680 but really can't see using much more then Reverb, delay and maybe eq for my projects. I can buy a 1680 at a great price with no effects cards. Any thoughts on this?? Knowing myself and knowing what types of effects are included in these units (and I know...
