The JVM is supposed to be loosely based on the JCM 800. The Crunch channel is JCM-like, and everything after that is the most modded JCM 800 ever. And it does those sounds pretty well, but it's got a modern flavor to it. And that's the thing....Marshall's flagship amp is just an attempt to recreate one of their classics with modern versatility. It's a great amp, but that's the rut they're stuck in. All Marshall can do is chase their own tone at this point. The 1959 and the 2203 are the foundations of the entire Marshall world. Every Marshall sound there is comes from one of those two family trees.
I remember you telling me your JVM is kinda like an 800, to a point, but it's more of a modern, hi-fi 800, right??? I'd still love to have one though...
Fuck power scaling. Just make them affordable for every-day Joe gigging working musicians.
I have to disagree with ya on that one dude, while I love the way my amps sound when they're loud & pushing the power tubes, they're fuckin' deafening to be around...lol...It'd be cool to have
a JCM800 or Super Lead that could get the cranked up tone without blowing the windows out of the house....I suppose an attenuator would be a logical thing for this, but, there's a lot more going on with "that" sound than just the power tubes...speaker breakup, all the air being pushed, etc...Just guessing, the 2 amps I have right now are probably all I'll ever really need for any situation, whether it be recording, gigging, or whatever...I've just become a gear junkie, & want more....

.
Thanks man!!!! On the drums dude, I ain't gonna lie, I did it in "sections"....I played with the song a few times getting used to it, then I'd record the basic beat, all the way through...then, I'd overdub fills (that I could play anyway) here/there, & fix the timing where it needed it...
Just guessing, I played about 75-80% of those drums...the rest are edited to hell (my playing is pretty sloppy at times...but, I've said this before, I ain't no drummer), & a couple of those nice, cool, slick, pro-sounding fills are actually midi fills from my Toontrack stuff...But again, I ain't no drummer, so I gotta do what I gotta do....I'll get better at it, I already have in just the past 2-3 weeks, but until then, this is how I gotta roll with it....
I'd never in my life played anything to a click track up until about 2-3 weeks ago, not even a guitar or bass track, I'd always played to the midi loops I have...It's very different playing to a click for me, but I'll get it eventually....You never know, I may even wind up getting a real kit someday....
So, what do you think about the drum sounds themselves, apart from the spectacular playing over here?????
